Although... my neighbour just bought a Chrysler 300, and it looks like sex on wheels, I've ordered some 21" rims for him and a bentley style grille, he's already getting pedders to drop the suspension 1.5 inches... and that's all its gonna need to look fantastic. Its a bit of poo as far as power you get for the price you pay (they retail for half of what they sell for here in the US and UK) and the interior looks like it belongs in a Kia.

Yeah, I walked past one today and had a squiz. The interior is a bit low rent for a $55K car - the Statesman looks much nicer inside.

If I had a 300C, the car would be black and exterior wise I'd get:

21" chrome rims

Lowering kit

catback exhaust

Tints

I'm not after outright power or handling, but it has to look mean (lowered on massive chromies and a dark tint will do that, I might shave some of the badges off too) and it has to sound like a basso whose lived off a diet of cigarettes and whiskey.

They might be bringing the SRT8 into Australia as well, with a nice bodykit and a 6.1L V8......

if that tickles your fancy then maybe try a Toyota Caldina Wagon... what I reckon could be the next hot import if more people were aware of em (and yes eligible under SEVS). 2.0L Turbo AWD wagon (essentially a celica GT4 with some padding).

the newer model looks even hotter, but I dunno if its SEVS eligible just yet.

I would prefer to wait and get the Mazda 3 SP23 MPS its coming out end of the year its same motor turbo but fwd comes with 18s to and will be 40kish

Not sure how it would be compared to wrx (i hate 06 wrx restyling)

Also there is a 2L turbo accent new shape with 18s and body kit coming out end of year plus the focus turbo plenty of turbo s to choose from, POLO GTI anyone ?I want a new car with no shit from the po po ,and i want to be a pretty boy who pays to get my car serviced (pissed off cause just spent 6 hrs putting front mount on and 3 inch exhaust )It was worth it

Mazda 3 mps

Edited by turbohectics

They have a lot of torque but run out of puff about 5000rpm

at 1600+ kgs why would you?

The weight of an XR6 and the power of....well not really much power at all for the fat arse weight of it.

This car is a performance poo barge. Zoom Zoom....pffft!

It's turbo though... I think the whole turbo craze has finally hit the world.. I mean now that apparantley the accent and focus etc are all going turbo..

As for the MPS my friend took one for a spirited drive and says its a great car. The best thing is being turbo, extra power is easy to come by..

Exhaust, pod, turbo.. Won't be running out of puff anymore will it..

And just to stir things up a little..

The New Lexus Anyone.. :)

Easy to come by? Yes maybe it is but, then it needs a hell of alot more power than standard to make it even keep up with a stock commodore LS1. By the time is goes even that quick the standard motor and drivetrain will probably have broken.

ben if you want plain, maybye you should go for a commodore vn stationwagon bro? or a camry series 2 special?

You could add your own optamise prime graphics and neons later when you have saved up for the bright pink paint job?

That's exactly what I was planning on doing, and if the rep kicked up a stink I'd just let him know its a feature that needs to be tested.

my mate just bought 3 of them... but now theyre 15 feet longer :( as is the 2 ford territories and hummer.. comes in handy for our wedding :(

have trouble keeping up with a stock 5.7? lmao u reckon? i dont think so mate... they were tested to run a 14.3 qtr.. last SS i saw at calder with small mods ran a 14.7.... 14.3 and not being a holden gets an instant 10 points from me. As for Saab... only one Saab i would drive that they released and the bastards didnt even release it here... go the 92X!

exhaust, pod and some boost and this will run some nice times while in luxurious comfort.... id hit it.

ross80 you stirrer!! hehehe

VN wasnt quite on my shopping list...

my skyline looks a bit like a camry - its a 4 door r33...stock mags etc.

got to take it down the strip though and see what it pulls.

Got a 172rwkw on a conservative dyno..hoping for 13s of some sought. Or take it to the track to enjoy. Licence is too valuable..

You think pink do you>>??

inark,

Mazda MPS --- 190kw 380nm engine 1639KG

Entry Level Holden Commodore V8 ---- 260kw 510nm engine 1639KG

You sure about it being faster over the 1/4 mile now?

The only info regarding a 'specualtive' 14.3 comes from the reveiw of the Mazdaspeed 6' version (not sold here). It wasn't proven it was a guess (and for my money a very bad one) and that car has more power and torque. It's still far less powerfull than the holden and still weighs the same.

Mazda retirement vehicle.

Beno,

yeah keep a hold of that lic I just got mine back after a year and I dont plan on riding a pushbike anytime soon.

Im actually looking at a bright pink S13 Silvia for this chick I know today! hahah. Good luck at the strip let us know what you run Im going to take mine as soon as sort out some fueling issues

The MPS will have more traction off the line, and the Commodore V8s run the world's widest gear ratios.

Standing kilometre the Commodore will smash the MPS, but quarter mile I reckon it'll be close.

Love to see some actual dragstrip numbers though.

Worst car ever for australian conditions. They have serious detonation trouble in NZ temperatures let alone Aussie 30+ temps.

    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
    • While I was waiting for the new parts to come in for the charge pipe and radiator I decided to do some turbo modification. The drive pressure (exhaust backpressure) was a lot higher that I thought it should be. For 32lbs of boost drive was 55lbs. The turbine housing is a 1.10AR and my turbo builder has suggested to go to a 1.25AR. To test if a larger AR would do anything to reduce drive pressure AND not spend any money I decided to hog out the divider in my current housing. I removed it from the inlet and the whole way through the housing.  After reassembly and testing it doesn't look like this modification did anything for reducing drive pressure or requiring more fuel (making more power). Oh well, it was worth a shot. We'll get some data at the track if it makes it past the 60ft. I also machined a $7 shift knob off Amazon to fit my Stillway shifter since I didn't like the Stillway shift knob. Next on the list was the radiator replacement and fabrication of a new intercooler tube that had no silicon coupler. No pictures of this - I was short on time each night after work to get this done and didn't stop to take pictures.  Next was to get the clutch disks out and replaced. Previously when installing the dogbox I had ordered a set of the same sintered iron disks I had been running because I switched to the 26-spline input shaft. I thought it was odd that they didn't have any markings or brand name on them like all my old disks had but installed them anyway. At the track I could not get the clutch to lock up using my normal strategies. After two track nights I reached out to the clutch manufacturer and ask their thoughts. They said they had to switch the material out because they were having trouble getting the original material and that this new material would not take to being slipped very well.  So out with the first set of 26-spline disks and in with the correct material 26-spline disks. While I had the trans out I added an inspection/service hole. I've wanted one of these for a while. Now I can have a look at things and change the front cover shimming when needed (clutch wear). I hustled and got the clutch change done in a few hours on a Saturday. Hopped in the car and drove home. On the way home I did a 1-3 pull. When shifting from 2nd to 3rd the core plug in the back of the cylinder head popped out and dumped all the coolant. Thankfully I was only 30 seconds from home and coasted it there. Datalog showed nothing unusual and 2.5psi of coolant pressure. That plug has been in there since 1992 but I guess it worked its way out. Pulled the trans AGAIN and replaced the plug, JB welded it in, and made a brace. Also deleted the head drain I had added in during the bearing issue fiasco.  I am currently changing my boost control plumbing to make it cleaner. After that is done I'll make another attempt at getting past the 60.
