Morning Queenslanders...

As of last friday night, my plans have become a reality.

We took a deposit on our unit in Sydney and we're heading up.

We are looking at relocating in early May to Brisbane.

From what we can see on the net, the area we can afford to get the type of property we like is at Bracken Ridge and surrounding few suburbs of Bald hills, Taigum, and a few others..

Any feed back on these areas?

We'll be flying up tonight for 3 days... give us time to see a few places to rent for 6 months while we look to buy..

and also gives me a chance to get through a few interviews for work.

Just thought I'd post here to hear some feedback on my choice of area and to say hi and see you all soon.

Cheers

TT

ok, coming from sydney to brisbane is sort of like coming from melbourne to brisbane (which i have just done)

all i can say is that the closest area to the kind of lifestyle you get in sydney is New Farm, which is where i am. its a great place.

good luck with the move,

Warren

Nothing wrong wid da wesside either

Milton, Auchenflower, Toowong, Indooroopilly...all very nice suburbs close to the city. Milton and Auchenflower are right near the river and all are on the train line.

SAu Qld is always on the lookout for new members to add to the family, so let me know if you wish to become a SAu Qld Member :geek:

Kind regards,

I don't want the same life style I had in Sydney.

that's the whole point of this move.

I'm recently married.

need house instead of unit, for the future.

don't want to go west.

prefer to be near water or city and water more so than the city.

the types of housing we want are not in those suburbs that have been mentioned... well at least not for the prices in the areas we are looking..

20-30km out of the city is no biggie..

Bracken ridge seems to be close to rail line as well so that's a bonus.

I'll drive around there for the next 3 days to get a good look around..

mmmm purple *drool*

When I first came here and I heard west my first thought was no...but western suburbs here is completely different to western suburbs in Sydney (I lived in Sydney for 8 years before moving here)

Bayside has some lovely suburbs and is near the coast (Manly, Wynnum, Cleveland). It also depends on how much you can spend

I would be getting silver and purple plates -- you can create some at www.ppq.com.au

Let me know when you're ready to join

oh I didn't mean brisbane west is like sydney west.. hahahaha.. I just meant I wanted east to be closer to water... just a preference..

Brighton and sandgate is where I'd like to be, but they are a little out of th eprice range..

occasionally something comes up in my price range but I'm willing to travel 5 or 6 km from Bracken ridge or near by to go to the bay side..

If you are thinking that any of those suburbs will be kinda "beachy" because they are "close" to the coastline....think again.

The only real beaches in SEQ are at the Gold Coast and Sunshine coasts, not like Sydney where, if you are anywhere near the coast, there is a beach within a few minutes drive.

Most of the suburbs you have listed are "bayside". If you would be happy swimming in Port Botany, then go for it.

As far as traffic is concerned, I lived in Sydney for 26 years (moved here in 2001) and go back to visit tha family fairly regularly. I would almost classify Brisbane traffic as worse than Sydney. The number of cars in Brisbane peak hour is probably fewer than Sydney, but the traffic flow is a LOT slower.

also, anyone know any good eateries in the SPRING HILL area.. we are staying there the next few days..

italian, thai prefered...

cheers

Hey dude if you like thai food, head to a place called maxim's its on stanley street in the gabba. its the best thai food i have had except for in thai land. its nice and cheap and byo

btw good luck with the house and job hunting

Wayne

The drive into the city from southside is good upto 7ish after that its 40 or less but you get direct acces to city(read no lights). Sydney has cured alot of its traffic problems whereas Brisbane has along way to go yet. I was a courier for 3 yrs there.

    • Perfect, I'll get to it this winter then at the same time as I weld on my anti squat kit.
    • Alright so my 32 only has one temperature no matter what degree you set it to. I’ve tried disconnecting the servo motor arm and moving it either direction and got no change. I’ve fixed the leak in my AC and re charged it and with it on and clutch engaged it still blows hot even though the low pressure pipe going to the firewall is ice cold. Both heater core hoses are hot while running as well. Diagnostic code showed 24 for intake air temperature sensor. Anybody got any ideas?
    • I said Garrett style. Not Garrett genuine. And something in the G30 550 range is what you want. Not those pokey little old fashioned T28 sized things. The intake ports in the head are small. There is little benefit in fattening up the runners and leaving ths actual ports small. Just run what you've got. And on the subject of Nistune vs Haltech etc..... You know you can control the transmission with decent standalone ECUs these days, right? No need to keep any of that old Nissan bullshit. Don't get me wrong - I use Nistune on my Neo. But it is a DET, so the number of bodges and workarounds I had to do to make it work in a chassis without ABS, TCS, etc, is quite small compared to the herniated arsehole you will have trying to make it work on a motor that doesn't have some of the things that the turbo ECU wants to see. Just easier to bite the bullet and go aftermarket outright.
    • Hmm. Only when the f**king thing is actually working. Still can't find the leak. And that's with dye being put in the last 3 times!
