While I was competing at the comp I heard about this, thought it was completely shit... punishing people who took the time, money and effort to compete legally in a sport they love... f**ked.. at least by the time we left the track at 8 there weren't any still around..

Some cops are a bit overzealous, for want of a better word - but please guys, you must realise, if they get calls because some tool has been watching drift and decides to start carving up the roads around where people live OF COURSE the police will come out. If they didnt, then people would be complaining the police are doing nothing.

If you really do think you are getting the short end of the stick - and lets face it, alot of people do, then complain to your local MP - they can actually do something.

And if you are worried about getting defects - go and get permits. I got permits for all my mods, and my car is pretty heavily modded - very cheap peace of mind for a whole $37.50. Alot cheaper and easier than screwing around getting stickers removed.

Usually, its a few tools out there on the road that make everyones life harder.

*giggle*

your funny

hope you have your permits laminated to save them tearing them up in front of you..

they also tend to not pay attention to permit regardless and still sticker you..

Theres an application form for major mods that you can pickup at the pits.Minor stuff just take the car to the pits.I got an MX5 approved with an F355 Ferrari motor and trans fitted in the rear(Cars about to get finished)but had to have flex tests etc but we got it passed so near anything is possible.

No, your right, much better to not get permits then bitch when you get defected for something you could of got a permit for.

and yes, they are laminated.

Permits don't do squat 99% of the time, most cops don't believe in them and just ignore the fact you have gone to the effort to do things by the book..

ivew also had friends have permit paperwork torn up in front of them by police when pulled over, and shown them the permits for everything..

Oh man I really didn't miss this while absent from the forums.

No reasonable cop would rip up the permits in front of you if you yourself are being reasonable at the time. If they do, then take there badge number take a pic on your blinged out camera phone and report them. A cop will only do something if he knows he can justify his/her actions.

Any of you who are now saying to yourselves "I wouldn't want to do that - they may do me in for more things on my car etc etc". Then you were probably caught doing something overtly stupid, gave a bit of lip and deserved the treatment you received.

Grow up kids - stop acting like such victims!

........keyboard hero awaiting feedback :)

It comes down to the reason you were stopped and your attutude.

Ive driven modded cars for 24 years and only ever got a sticker once and yes i was being silly and smart mouthed and that was in 1984 and i learned from that and have had no problems since.

    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.
    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
