Actually I found that the HKS SSQ doesnt leak boost whatsoever and I had no stalling issues. I tested one on my car for one day.

My stock one stuffed up so I bought a Trust Type RS and plumbed it back. With an Apexi Pod filter and the spring tension tightened a little bit it still makes the right noises if thats what your after, but more importantly there is not stalling issues whatsoever.

ok yes an aftermarket atom bov makes the car run rich, but so does any mod with a stock ecu :S

if you install it right and have the spring set right.... you wont have a problem

ps i find stock bov leaks tooo much for my liking, i would run gtr bov but my intake pipe to my turbo is missing the pipe that plums back the bov hehhe

well if you want fully sick noises, stuff the BOV

just block it up, and hear the flutter and maybe in a few months your turbo will shit itself.. lol

nice uneducated reply there....

Some jap drifters dont run bov, as they belived it gives them better responds.....

and did the vl turbo come stock without a bov? i dont see a holden or anyone making a car which the turbo will blow up after u run it for a few months

I got GFB Hybrid bov and when on atmo it was stalling ocassionally, then i set it to 50 plumback and 50 atmo... started stalling again... now i set it to full plumback... the same vroom chooo tututututu still present but the car dont stall *fingers crossed*... this stalling is really ODing me...

It was a joke u tool, and if you boost the stock turbo with it blocked off say goodbye to it...

I got a mate who did a 4G63 conversion in his proton satria and decided to be sick cnt blocked off his BOV and boosted the car to like 10PSI, within a few months his turbo started to develop shaft play and stopped spooling properly...

well thats a 4g63 not an rb engine. there is a drift ceffy in perth that doesnt run a bov and has over 300rwhp and it is driven hard with no problem....

well i have a hks gt-rs turbo running around 1 - 1.2 bar as far as i understand i cant run the stock bov so i have upgraded, the stalling hasnt been so bad lately i just changed my driving style a little. But i think i will start looking at plumpback bov's.

thats great for that guy/girl with the ceffy... you do that to your car, run some mad boost and no BOV....

I wonder why they ever invented them? maybe :D to extend the turbo's life expectancy? top bloke :(

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
    • List all of your mods. It sounds like an aftermarket ECU hitting rev limiter. Like a valet mode, or a cold rpm limiter?
    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...
