Heya guys!

Well I am doing a few mods again to the car and am wondering what limitations the standard Injectors, clutch, fuel pump and turbo have.

This could be a good knowledge base should some of you guys want to perform mods in future:cool:

I have heard that the clutch goes to about 250rwhp however i myself am making much more than that and is still holding ... JUST!! so i do agree with that statement as far as reliability goes now what about

turbo:

injectors:

fuel pump:

how many rwhp do you think they will last up to. also as discussed with members such as skyzer, rev210 and gtstvspec (THANKS GUYS:uh-huh: )instead of injectors a malpassi fuel regulator can be the way to go to get an extra 70 rwhp or so. i have heard ups and downs though about this. KILLERT did you have probs with your fuel regulator? anyone else?

well killer-t went the malpassi as its a cheaper option than replacing the injectors. hes up to about 300-315rwhp atm i think.

He was close to 100% duty cycle with the injectors at this stage teh malpassi has given him more room to play with the stock ones.

yes a number of hard launches and ur likely to fry your clutch at your current power.

Fuel pump may or maynot last i can't remember the specs on the stocker, u may want to replace just to be on the safe side.

turbo will most likely be at its limits now.

I think the the most power i got out of my stock turbo and fuel pump was 240 rwhp and it made that power for around 1 month then the fuel pump died i think it was workin real hard and the turbo was on its way out at this point to but i think that was my own fault running 14-15 psi in the middle of summer

(rwkw / 0.7455 = rwhp)

Im making 272rwhp and my clutch has just gone. (Although its a hard daily driver constantly on 7psi - 249rwhp). Even though i thought the clutch wasn't slipping and felt reeeeally smooth ive realised after having my new clutch installed today that it was deffinetly lacking performance.

Stock ECU

Stock Turbo

3" Full Exhaust

FMIC

HKS Pod

68,000km on the clock

thats it....

I'm sure my stock injectors and fuel pump are nearing the end of their lives but i have no easy way of telling.

Ben.

I had a Yellow R34 GTS max the fuel pump at 311 rwhp today

so we are fitting a SAFC and Bosch pump.

This thing was making this power at 16psi with a cooler

and Exhaust and a cheap un knowen turbo ($1500) and

was still climbing but we had to back of because the fuel pump.

Will let you now the final out come but 350hp looks possible.

Ok the limits of my injectors is 326.3 rwhp and there is not alot of head room left in them so i know whats on my shopping list.I just need to butter up my g/f first :P

So fitting a z32 afm and fuel reg gave me an extra 22 hp not a huge amount but just enough to notice a bit more pull in the car:burnout: :burnout:

haha so true steve but over here you see a lot of guys tunig to mid to high 12's but if tuned in summer come winter when the air is denser they WILL lean out! Killer t i reckon a big pump and malpassi you will be able to stretch 50 at least from your injectors but don't skimp on your pump

so the limit of your injectors of 326.3rwhp is that including the malpassi fuel regulator? Brett didn't seem to be a big fan of it the other day though????

    • I hadn't thought about the variable power steering assist. Presumably, it will always be the same level of assist as you get in an S14. The R32/3/4 are either helliishly heavy (at low speeds) if the solenoid is not powered at all, or hellishly too light (at high speed) if it is powered all the time. I presume that it is PWM controlled on those cars. I hadn't thought about the S cars not having variable assist. ugh. What crappy plebby cars they must be!
    • Hmm yeah that is a good point. It looks like it'll just bolt in with no real issue besides maybe the bushings being different. My other concern was that 2 pin plug that I assume is used in some way to control the rack solenoid depending on the speed signal from the ecu. The DMAX rack doesn't even have that plug though so, don't think it'll matter. Might just order the rack and see how it goes. Will update this when I figure something out
    • I'd say it's a fair bet that the feed and return fluid lines will be in different enough spots that you would need to come up with a way to cut the originals short and adapt with new hard line adaption or braided teflon hoses or somesuch. But really, you have the car, you have the photos of the DMAX rack - you should be able to go out there and see for yourself whether they're in the same or different spots.
    • I've been doing some looking around and honestly was just considering throwing a new rack at it. I saw that the dmax silvia rack bolts up into the 33 with the silvia bushings but not sure if the high pressure lines will sit in the correct spot. I believe other version of the 33 rack are the same/similar to the racks that can be opened up without as much fuss so I assume the dmax rack would fit but any ideas?
    • I've never played with one, but I would expect that you are correct. That slot looks like it is intended to be used to unscrew the end, and the flats on the body would be better than grabbing it around the round bit with a pipe wrench. So, yeah, probably unscrews. You'll probably have to make a tool to drive in that slot.
