Hey mate, I'm from brissie too and there are mobile guys that will come to you and make up lines for you!

I've been quoted $50 a corner at mates rates but i would imagne that it'd be nomare than $60-70 a corner. Pretty good I reckon considering you don't even have to get off the couch.

ah... the only thing with the mobile guys is most of them will not fit the lines for you or bleed your brakes or anything, as they explained to me its "too much of a liability to them if something goes wrong"

and if you get some, make sure they are ADR compliant, and also try to get the clear plastic cover over the braid... this stops dirt etc getting caught between the braids and eventually wearing/rubbing a hole in the tubing inside.

I personally wouldn't want them to refit and bleed just as much as they want the liability. As I like to know its done to my level of satisfaction which is much higher than a mobile tradey who would make great lines but not care about the car itself!

You have options though

1. if you can take them off yourself, do it and just give the guy the hoses to replicate

2. Find someone with lines off that you can borrow and get them made up then do a direct swap. . .or

3. Do what I did for a friend - he wanted an R33 brake upgrade to his R32 so we took it off the road for a bit and removed the brakes, approx. $25each for 200SX caliper rebiuld kits, sent the calipers for HPC coating and had the line made up when we got them back. Replicated the rears off the old ones and custom new ones for the R33 caliper front end.

Jas makes a good point about the plastic sheath over the lines but my friends had it so I didn't think to mention it

Hope that helps somewhat :P

I'm in Sydney and for my HR30 I recently got them made.

Pirtek at Milperra made them, no special deals, just had all 6 of them made at once for $370.00.

Remember, when doing this changeover there is more than just what goes to the calipers.

There is another 2 that go to the trailing arms from the body, due to the IRS and I figure the changeover would be pointless unless doing them all.

This is the ONLY type that is ADR compliant, as far as I'm aware.

I'm pretty certain Maltech in Geelong make the only ADR approved braided brake lines. The "ADRness" is related to the sheathing around where the hose joins the steel fitting.

There was a group buy, probably 18 months ago - about $350 a set (F / R) IIRC.

yes the adr approval is to do with the way the hose meets the hose end. it must be tested to pass a whip test which involved pulsing the line with pressure on/off to make it whip (causing stress on the hose).

on my GTR i use nismo lines. very nice. come with a nice sheath for the ends (like the brakequip/maltech ones) and come covered in a clear plastic coating. they are teflon lines inside, with stainless braid. i picked them up in japan. for all 6 lines was under $250 and they are very high quality.

i'm using them too... they're available from Nengun as well.

the ones we got came with the alcon brake kit....plastic coated, teflon lined...they are great...the old lines were perishing so it was prob good to get it done....teflon ss lines are gods greatest gift to mankind for performance applications...god i love em:)  Oil and water lines on the turbo are also done in it hehe :w00t:

yeh..where the old rubber lines expanded from excessive pressure...you lost some pedal feel/gained extra pedal travel...the new ss lines dont expand at all...so its a more positive feel all the way. Not only that, its probably piece of mind knowing that the lines are superior, its one less area that could let you down...especially when racing.

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
