Well what can i say...

hmm...

40 cars racing +

another 30 odd spectators +

fine weather

=

The first Annual Drag Challenge between SAU-Vic and the WRX Club of Vic a total success.

Thanks to all who came along today to Heathcote Park Raceway.

It was a superb day. I really enjoyed myself even though i wasnt racing!!!

Track temp was a little down and this was clearly reflected in the times as almost everyone on average we a few 10th's off what they should have been in general.

But it was great to see a lot of first timers, and even the ladies out there having a go.

So post up your pics/thoughts and whatever else you feel like blurting out :ban:

cheers - ash

what an awsome day!! I had a great first time experience down the 1/4mile, learnt heaps each time I ran. I got a total of 20 runs in for the day!! (I'm pretty sure paul can top that)

Best ET: 13.4 ( .52 reaction, 2.3 60ft, 113.4 mph)

Best MPH: 115.9mph

Best 60ft: 2.0

Best reaction time: 0.52

what a great day! thanks to everyone involved. cant wait for the next one.

Berin

oh, an on my last run I split a standard rubber elbow bend of my intercooler piping.....bitta 100mph tape wraped round there an EBC switched off....made it home sweet as.

Well done and big thanks to all the the organisers.

It was a heap of fun. I've only dragged road bikes before at Calder a couple of times many many years ago and once at Heathcote last year and on those days all I did is wait for hours for a run. 10 seconds of fun every couple of hours.

This day was awesome, you could basically have a run when ever you felt like it. The opportunity to truely do long term damage to the whole car.

It'd be good if we could squeeze another one of these in this later in the year. :ban:

Had a great time there today, the track was maybe a little off its best in my opinion, went a best of 12.3/114, just a bit off the PB for the car (R32 GT-R, Z1LLA plates).

Lots of nice cars out there. Look forward to participating in a few more club events this year.

Thanks to those who organised it. Was well run.

Yeah..

well done peoples

As said there were a lot of first timers out there today. myself included.

My LIMO..(r33 4 door) did the best it could with no big mods. 15.4 me best

But that gives me something to better next time like 15.3 lol..

Everone looked like they were having a great time . i met some great blokes

from the WRX club . and hope we do it again soon.. cheers......

oh yeah,, i hope everone that came home along the Northern highway spotted that speed camera in wallan.....

yeah I saw that camera....was a dark burgandy kinda colour new Holden Rodeo.....hope it didnt get any lines or rexies

Yeah hope not .

there were 8 of us and the lead car spotted it at last second and hit the skids

we all had to slow down that quick we crawled past him at about 10 ks a hour

I like the way your car launch mate, all you need is a good clutch and some more boost, looking strong on the run.

My clutch was dead before the end of the day :

but suprisingly my car ran its best time with two people in the car, and a dead clutch

lol, mods are in progress, so it better be ready for the next drag day :ban:

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
