hi boys and girls

i am just wondering what big hp skylines are using when it comes to automatic gearboxes.

i have got to the point where my strengthened toyota box cant handle it any more.

i am being pushed towards an al's race glide C4 or a power glide. i still drive the car on the street a fair bit but not more than 4000k's per year. with the new engine i intend to build it will make approx 900 at the crank so it has to be able to handle that sort of power.

any info would be appreciated.

KEAS.COM.AU SAY EDDY REFERED U BUSTER AND I BOTH USE 1,JPC BRESIANI,RAJB AND ALOT OF BHP CARS USE KEAS

I received the following email from Keas about a week ago:

Thanks for your enquiry. We will get back to you within 24rs to confirm order or answer your query. [email protected]

Haven't heard anything since and they don't list a phone number on their website. Guess they have far too much work to bother.

If you are going to drive on street I wouldnt recomend a 2 speed, especially on a smaller motor with a turbo as there is no torque to get the car to moving when off stall and you will hate that around town trust me.... For that much power a c4 might be okay, keas can build you a killer jatco that will take it, personally th400 are my fav 3 speed, but you will probs have probs adapting the thing and it will cost a bit, just ring keas they will sort you out, alternatively if they are too busy try hugo's in melbourne, can build a tranny that bloke!!!

I didn't like what I heard at Keas so I ended up going to Mike at MV Automatics in Adelaide.

I honestly believe Mike is the most knowledgeable person with regard to Jatco's in Australia and discounting the engineers that designed the things right up there in the world. He gets jobs to do from all over the world (was building one for a Russian customer at the same time he was doing mine).

The only thing is, he's in adelaide.

phil cruickshank built my auto

i think pvl-747 is selling his glide its the same as mine as he isnt finishing his car pm him

hardcore have never worked on my car but they produce some nice cars

    • For race cars, this is one part where I find having the roll cage bar having gone through a hole in the floor better than the build it up on a ledge inside... The Merc I help on, the main hoop ends are marked on the car, and the jack is marked... Jack goes under a few inches and lifts one whole side of the car up... Removes that fight for long slim jacks for race car duties!   My biggest issue for the daily drivers I work on, is my jacks don't go high enough. The jacks start out on a few blocks, jack it up, then start a second jack under it on more blocks, and then I can get an axle stand under it. My axle stands are presently in use, and are nearly fully extended. The car is sitting with barely more than a cm of clearance to get the wheel off the studs! Sarah's Kluger is the same, as it has an ungodly amount of droop available in the suspension and a distinct lack of good jacking points!
    • Happy? Yep, my to do list is getting shorter and shorter. Either this light approaching is the end of the tunnel, or I'm about to be hit by a train... Ha ha ha   Also, Duncan isn't that far out of town that you need to make a multi day drive out of it. 😛
    • Sorry I meant that we are building the EH for a client.
    • LOL, when one "money pit" is never enough Noice, and excellent work mate
    • I have more than enough digging, laying blocks, moving gravel, airrating, feeding and top soiling the grass, and setting up the veggie gardens growing some seedlings,  and then removing all the unused rock to keep me busy for the next few months at least,  hopefully the rain stops soon so I can get a few hours in this arvo, but, before that Sunday is washing day, is every body happy, you bet your life we are Nice country road day drives are a day off whenever I'm muscle sore from all the landscaping at the moment, but, more epic multiple day drives will start once the majority of the big jobs outside are completed
