Thought I might start the official dyno day thread,

This was the first dyno day I've ever attended and I had a great time and found it a great learning experience. I made 131.9kw on my stock 32gtst, which I'm pretty happy with as I was expecting about 110/120ish, everything seems to be healthy :D

I don't have any pics or videos unfortuantly because I forgot the camera so lets see everyone elses :)

Post up your results and tell us how you did.

Thanks to the guys who organised this, and racingline performance :(

Yeah i was a great day....

It was my first time on the dyno also .

I never expected a lot so was not freaked out at 135kw.on a stock R33 sedan (auto)

It gives me plenty to do now. Spending some $$$ might be a good start.

Let me say thank you to the guys down at RACINGLINE MOTORSPORT. and the other organisers

......................................................................Cheers

First let me give a big thanks to Nigel and his friend (sorry didn't get your name), at RACINGLINE, for holding the dyno day. Great guys and great new w/shop, wish you both a prosperous future in you new endeavour.

The day was a huge success, with cars on the dyno continuously. Met a few new guys and hope to see you all at our cruises/events.

On a personal note; i stayed till the last car and left with a grin from ear to ear :). Due to my 19's i expected a lowish figure, i knew my tune was dropped to about 250'ish rwkw with 16" rims, so i expected a figure at 230rwkw. The car made 240.Xrwkw, with what was referred to as hugely rich A/R ratios :D. There may not be much power to gain up top, but there is alot to be desired mid-range. After having a chat to Nigel, i stated that "my mechanic probably wanted to keep the engine safe". His reply of the day: "there is safe but yours is just wasting fuel" :(.

I believe i may have made the highest figure for the day, so i am pretty damn happy!

I have decided to give this set-up one more tune, before i install the GT-RS, just to see if i can gain some more response for DECA.

Below is a graph comparing my tune to Pete's, the quality difference in tune is obvious.

i think i took home the wooden spoon, with a whopping 96.9 rwkw!

was stoked with such a shit effort... lol!

turns out my cars pumping out hugely lean afr's of 16 :)

apparently it shouldnt even be alive! haha

WHERES MY SPOON DAMNIT!

I came down very early then had to leave :)

First run of the day, my mates HR31 pulled 130rwkw with a Redtop NICS, RB25 turbo @ 10psi

I went on second, made 180rwkw, all going through a big fat auto. Silvertop ECCS, GT2871r @ 16psi...AFR's up the creek :D

Thumbs up to the workshop and Nige who seem like good blokes. I will be definitely going back there to get my SAFC tuned.

I told you that you'd get 130 :)

good turnout and a fair few new faces, which is always good.

thanks for racingline for putting on the day, the organisers and people who came to the event and helped out. a very sucessful day.

i made 167rwkw and then finally 182rwkw after some more timing which was thrown in. we tried the R33 VCT tuning and there was no noticable difference so it was left as defaults.

thanks for those who helped organise and run the event

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
