Who told you that you need to change the blow off valve ? Stock ones are pretty good... There's a GTR on here making over 600rwkw on stock GTR BOVs... the GTSt ones are pretty good as well...

300rwkw+ is possible on stock internals, but it won't last long.. either your mates are lying about having 300rwkw, or thier dyno is reading high, or thier engine is about to go bang very soon ...

As i just mentioned, one dyno may say you have 300rwkw, another may say 250rwkw....

300rwkw will run 10s in Commodores, a well setup Skyline will do better than that I would think. 250rwkw in a well setup Skyline would probably run an 11 or go close.

If you want 300rwkw, just get the dyno operator to put the temp probe next to the exhaust...

yeah you could manage mid 11's on drag radials i would expect

depends, is stripping weight an option? is it a dedicated drag car only?

will it be street registered?

Its street registered i guess i could pull out the rear seat.

No one told me I know the stock bov is good for that. I said A BOV IS A MUST ON A TURBO CAR....

Mates are not lying was their when the cars were dynoed, dyno is calibrated regulary. Their engine could be ready to go bang true i hope not though. So would it be fair to say that a constant 250rwkw is alot alot alot alot more safer than 300. The answer is obviously yes but is their that much of a stress on the engine putting that extra 50 kw into it

And 300rwks car will spank a 250rwkw car at the drags...thats like sayign a 200rwkws RB20 will be quicker then my laggy 235rwkws...who give a damn about mid range when you have top end and lookimg to run a good qtr mile time. You leave the lien at 4,500rpm and the engine never drops below 5,000rpm

Throw the 30R on it, get a very good clutch, some good drag radials and with plenty of practice you will end up running in the 11s...

I don't know of any .63AR ratio housing for the GT30R but it would be a bit small (as in lacking gas flow capacity) for the compressors performance potential . Realistically you should be thinking of the .82 AR ratio Garrett housing or HKS's .87AR ratio GT30 housing as minimums for that compressor and power output .

Also, shen I read this thread I cant believe how many of you did not read the question, rather jumped down this guys throat for stating a clear goal = 300 rwkws.

Now my suggestion is a HKS 2835 ProS - while not rated at 300rwkws there are a few people that have done it. Im getting around 270rwkw on an average tune and it has hardly any lag whatsoever and good mid range too and is perfect for street.

I used 3037* as one search option

3540* as one search option

The first two, took me about 2 mins. As the same bunch of links was posted last week when this very similar question arose

Then *300rwkw* as the 3rd in my more recent post

Thats all, no bullshit, no tricky options.

One must remember to change the default search days from 30-day to "any date", thats really the only trick to it.

I would decompress the engine if I were you... 300rwkw is fine on a stock healthy RB25, HEAPS of japanese guys have done it. JMS R33 did it for years, my 33 did it no probs BUT the big thing (and this is according to japanese experts) decompress the engine first - HKS 1.6mm headgasket gives an 8.6:1 CR - which is safe accoding to the experts :D

The 3037S would go close I recon, I ended up getting 290rwkw at 1.2 bar, at 1.4 it made 321. That was with the 0.87 turbine housing, had around 1.2 bar at 4000rpm. When I initially put the turbo on, it had the 0.61 housing, and boost hit so hard at 3000rpm, I never even bothered trying to see what it would do, anything above 1 bar was unstreetable, but with a basic (15 minute) matrin donnon tune it turned out 256 at 1 bar.

3" exhaust will be fine, as long as there are minimal bends and not much else :D

Decompressing the engine is a cheap and good idea, i hadnt thought of that, thx. Is there any difference in the HKS 3037 compared to the GT3037? I thought they were the same its just that HKS are more expensive. Appreciate all the positive comments and the people that actually read my 1st post and didnt try to cut my)throat. the compressor wheel is different, as is the compressor cover and the inducer - which you can only buy from HKS. The HKS turbo has a split type inducer to prevent surge, and a 0.6 AR compressor Vs the garret 0.7 on the gt30

I have seen a few people try and get the same results from garret gt30 turbos, but none have I seen that can compare, both in how early they come on boost, overall power top end, midrange, infact everywhere - chalk and cheese.

My HKS 3037 was coming on boost with a 0.87 turbine housing earlier than guys I know who were using the gt30 with the 0.63 - with the 0.61 housing on the HKS turbo, boost was hitting very, very hard at 3000rpm - anything over 1 bar and I just couldnt keep traction - in any gear at any speed - it just ramped up so qiuickly. With the 0.87 it was a little laggier, but you could control boost with the throttle. At WOT in 4th gear, made 1.2 bar under 4000rpm all the same.

bottom line, IMO, spend a bit extra

Im starting to like the sounds of this hks3037 with .87 rear. Steve have you had the chance to run your car down the 1/4. I d be happy with 290rwkw on stock internals.

    • Did this end up working? Did you take some pictures?
    • And finally, the front lower mount. It was doubly weird. Firstly, the lower mount is held in with a bracket that has 3 bolts (it also acts as the steering lock stop), and then a nut on the shock lower mount itself. So, remove the 3x 14mm head bolts , then the 17mm nut that holds the shock in. From there, you can't actually remove the shock from the lower mount bolt (took me a while to work that out....) Sadly I don't have a pic of the other side, but the swaybar mounts to the same bolt that holds the shock in. You need to push that swaybar mount/bolt back so the shock can be pulled out past the lower control arm.  In this pic you can see the bolt partly pushed back, but it had to go further than that to release the shock. Once the shock is out, putting the new one in is "reverse of disassembly". Put the top of the shock through at least one hole and put a nut on loosely to hold it in place. Put the lower end in place and push the swaybar mount / shock bolt back in place, then loosely attach the other 2 top nuts. Bolt the bracket back in place with the 14mm head bolts and finally put the nut onto the lower bolt. Done....you have new suspension on your v37!
    • And now to the front.  No pics of the 3 nuts holding the front struts on, they are easy to spot. Undo 2 and leave the closest one on loosely. Underneath we have to deal with the wiring again, but this time its worse because the plug is behind the guard liner. You'll have to decide how much of the guard liner to remove, I undid the lower liner's top, inside and lower clips, but didn't pull it full off the guard. Same issue undoing the plug as at the rear, you need to firmly push the release clip from below while equally firmly gripping the plug body and pulling it out of  the socket. I used my fancy electrical disconnect pliers to get in there There is also one clip for the wiring, unlike at the rear I could not get behind it so just had to lever it up and out.....not in great condition to re-use in future.
    • Onto the rear lower shock mount. It's worth starting with a decent degrease to remove 10+ years of road grime, and perhaps also spray a penetrating oil on the shock lower nut. Don't forget to include the shock wiring and plug in the clean.... Deal with the wiring first; you need to release 2 clips where the wiring goes into the bracket (use long nose pliers behind the bracket to compress the clip so you can reuse it), and the rubber mount slides out, then release the plug.  I found it very hard to unplug, from underneath you can compress the tab with a screwdriver or similar, and gently but firmly pull the plug out of the socket (regular pliers may help but don't put too much pressure on the plastic. The lower mount is straightforward, 17mm nut and you can pull the shock out. As I wasn't putting a standard shock back in, I gave the car side wiring socket a generous gob of dialectric grease to keep crap out in the future. Putting the new shock in is straightforward, feed it into at least 1 of the bolt holes at the top and reach around to put a nut on it to hold it up. Then put on the other 2 top nuts loosely and put the shock onto the lower mounting bolt (you may need to lift the hub a little if the new shock is shorter). Tighten the lower nut and 3 upper nuts and you are done. In my case the BC Racing shocks came assembled for the fronts, but the rears needed to re-use the factory strut tops. For that you need spring compressors to take the pressure off the top nut (they are compressed enough when the spring can move between the top and bottom spring seats. Then a 17mm ring spanner to undo the nut while using an 8mm open spanner to stop the shaft turning (or, if you are really lucky you might get it off with a rattle gun).
    • You will now be able to lift the parcel shelf trim enough to get to the shock cover bolts; if you need to full remove the parcel shelf trim for some reason you also remove the escutcheons around the rear seat release and you will have to unplug the high stop light wiring from the boot. Next up is removal of the bracket; 6 nuts and a bolt Good news, you've finally got to the strut top! Remove the dust cover and the 3 shock mount nuts (perhaps leave 1 on lightly for now....) Same on the other side, but easier now you've done it all before
