Am i legally allowed these?.....can they fit on my car?.....are they hard to install....if they are how much would i need to pay someone to get them installed for me.

update:: my mate said that i dont need a convertion kit because they are used for cars who dont have Xenon kits in them at all...he says my car has it...just not the bulbs.....is this tru?

last time i saw, they take the stock xenon lights out as they are too bright making them illegle or something (during compliance), but do they just change the globe, or do they remove ballast/igniter and other associated equipment?

VB is exactly right. If you bought the car from a dealer, and depending how long ago you got it, go back and tell him that you want your xenon kit back!

it was part of the car so its legally yours anyway but sometimes they try sell it back to you.

if you cant do that, find someone that is wrecking a 34 and ask to buy the kit with the globes.

Gday mate,

Some points about colour temperature first incase you feel like splurging and buy something:

1- 120,000K is STUPIDLY BLUE (it's almost ultraviolet)

2- Natural light is 4300K

3- Mine are 6500K (I'd prefer them less blue but they're ok)

The place that did your compliance would have taken out your ballasts and bulbs. They would have converted your assembly to take normal halogen bulbs.

Ideally you want to get some stock ballasts from a r34 and change the insides of your headlight assembly to accept stock bulbs. Ideally you'd just buy some XID xenon lights. I believe both wrxhoon and abobob both are selling these. The advantages are you have the stock assembly, ballasts and bulbs.

The HID kits that are sold like the one you pasted are for cars without xenons in the first place. They are generally a bad idea as normal halogen projectors aren't made with xenons in mind, so they can glare, leak and have crap cut off. This is both dangerous and impractical. There are exceptions, such as cefiro/r32/s13 projectors seem to work well.

So your mate is half right - the headlight assembly in your car is suited to xenons. But in compliance they take out the bulbs, ballasts and convert the bulb holder into a halogen one.

What I would do in your situation is call your compliancer/importer and ask for them back. They're you're property if you bought the car before it was imported. If not then you should buy some.

If you get stuck and can't find any my suggestion would then be to install an aftermarket kit. The advantages of this would be you wouldn't have to convert the bulb holder back to a xenon type but you could buy a kit suited to the halogen type.

I bought mine from BATMBL on these forums. He's a good guy and he sells Kaixen kits which I've used for a while. Try PM'ing him for a kit and remember the higher you stray from 4300K the bluer you're getting. I wouldn't go higher than 6500K if you don't want to get pulled over.

Xenons are illegal if they're not self-righting so remember that too :P

Good luck.

Technically illegal. If you get the right globe size on the kit it will fit. I'd advise getting 6000k and no higher, any higher will look blue or purple. Most 6000k are pretty blue as it is.

4300k is the best temp

i seriously dont think his lights are even halogen, i think there normal globes, you can't see f*ck all if its more than 30ft infront of the car.. pretty scary really. i doubt the importer would give them back to him though, what do they normally do with these left overs? he bought the car about 2 months ago, so it might be too late also

You would be lucky to get the bits back as the compliancer is suppose to destroy all the parts and they are actually audited to make sure they do. some compliancers change the whole headlight assembly for a std nissan unit, as you would know the HID units have Xenon writtern in the light assembly. The reason they are removed is because they are not auto adjusting like the eruo cars, just have a three or four position switch.

ok time to clarify the story here.

The R34's were offered with 2 seperate headlight units. 1 being non-Xenon and the other being Xenon. Xenon's were standard on the GTR and only offered as an option on the GTT's.

For compliance they have to be non-xenon as they don't pass ADR's (for ADR's they need to be self adjusting which they are not). Now there are 2 ways to do this. 1 is to put the non-xenon headlights in and the second is to pull the balast and globe out of the Xenon light and put normal halogen globes in. However this method requires re-wiring which is a bitch and a half to reverse if you want to put Xenon's back in.

My advise is to put a 6000K HID Kit in.

at 12,000K the light will be so blue that you wont get any illumination on the road. I wouldn't go anything above 6000k. 6000K is about the whitest light you will get and will give you the best vision on the road.

HID's and Xenon's are technically illegal if the headlight unit is not self adjusting. All of the factory Xenon's you see are self adjusting and hence pass ADR's.

When they convert the xenons to halogens they usually take the balast out, take the xenon globe out and cut the wire that goes to the plug that plugs on the globe. You can get a balast and put it back on and you can get a globe ( xenon) and put that back on. The problem is when they cut the wire they cut it very close to the little igniter inside the h/light assembly and its impossible to re-conect it unless you pull the h/light appart ( pull the front lens off) .

You will find you have halogen globes in but because the assembly was designed for xenon the light is very poor so much so you cant see at night in the rain .

Your best bet is to use an aftermarket kit or buy a set of xenon lights and then sell your hals .

If you was in Sydney i could help but melbourne is a bit far ..

soo...i actually need a whole Xenon Kit????? man dats like a 1000+ isnt it???

The best option would be to find a used set of xenons and then sell your halogens to someone that wants to comply their car.

    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
