GTR attitude is alive and well in QLD doesn't it!!! lol

Just coz you have a GTR does not automatically make you a legend.

he's a good shane! I'm sure he can give it out as much as he takes it!

well i spent 3 months and alot of money building a track spec s13 silvia and 10days after we had the engine (s14 engine) and brake (s15 brakes) set up up and running i got rear ended and smashed into the car infront writting the whole thing off :P

hey shane... do you think i should go and take my fuel pump out of the wreck as the fuel tank leaked and there is no petrol in there... should i take it out to preserve it or will it be fine?

nvm...

So... how high can u rev a RB26 safely shane?

7k man on a std one, but the odd rev limiter dance doesnt hurt, if u've got ye ole 2wd switch

im assuming ur asking as you like to go for some regular 'spirited drives', i dont know how u drive, but if it were me, i wouldnt go holding the revs at say ~6k+ constant, caus in the end it's gonna shake itself apart

but its true what i said, no gtr owner has 'pwned' me at any stage, yet the gtst owners always find something...

she'll be right

P.S if i had knowledge of this issue, of course i wouldnt have left it out of fuel, plus i offered to refund the mula, fool...but serously, have u heard of that happening before? if not, how do others store their used pumps?

:P oh noes :) and you had insurance?

nope.. and I'm so pissed off that I didn't.. but the guy who hit me had insurance.

well i did have insurance.. but only third party property and fire and theft! As it was a track car and I barely drove it on the road .. just this one day, my other car needed to get some work done so I drove the silvia!

come down to sydney and i'll set up a few drivers for a pwning!

Dave (who's up in QLD with bunta and anna at the moment) is an insane driver! one of the best!

I had a 2wd switch but I ditched it when I had my tourque split controller installed. Kinda wishing I didnt now however, but apparently taking the fuse out under the dash is much dodgyness and your far better off removing the fuse from under the hood.

hahaha

they just wrap them up, but It hink it's better to keep them submersed to be sure!

I might go and get it.. it'll hopefully get the insurance agents to hurry up if I head in there and start taking parts of the car lol

Thanks for backing me up on that one Shane... :)

Tola ya so Ian  <<---always wanted to use that :P

yes he was at big dave's place for new years, which i was also there...

although u gotta admit, his machine is quite well sorted! f50's on the front, ap's on the back, amongst other goodies i spied...

but in the end, i'm only 19 with very little spirited driving experience, now b4 ny1 goes flaming me, i'm already booked for the next 2 track days

hows it dodgy? all it does is disable the abs, but all you want rwd for is to do a static burnout at the drags

you've got my attention now liz, how good?

dave? very good! lol

he's a legend! I love him!

yeah but it's easier to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fasst car fast! so as well as his car being sorted, his driving is too!

and shane.... you are young and no matter what your driving experiance is now, you'll pick up tips and the like every time you go out!!! Even the smallest things!

    • After using a protractor for an actually accurate assessment of what is required,  and by NOT using my uncalibrated eyeball I worked out I need a 25° silicone bend from the TB ro the MAF, but, my choice was either a 30° or a 23° (23° is a weird spec), so I grabbed the 23° one from Raceworks I also grabbed 1mtr of 3" straight from Just Jap, I needed 350mm, but they only had 300mm, or 1mtr lengths....meh Also ordered a 1/2" hose bulkhead fitting from fleabay, this has a smoothish mushroom looking head (they are designed for below the water line of boats) that will fit inside the bend, the hose bit and threaded bit looks to long, but nothing that a hacksaw cannot fix if required, the hose will then just get jamed on the threaded bit up to the retaining nut Fingers crossed and the unsightly amount of hose clamps will be reduced down to 4 once all the parts arrive
    • Oil change does not trigger code 21. Code 21 is for coilpacks primary side connection. You can try to clear the code with a battery disconnect, hold down the brake pedal to drain capacitors through the brake lights with the ignition on for 10-15 seconds before you reconnect the battery. I have seen R35 coil conversion permanently cause this code with no ill effects so it might be the resistance it wants to see isn't quite right on one or more coilpacks. Could be inside the ECU, could be the harness, could be a coil. You can test it all if you want or just ignore until the car actually starts misfiring.
    • I forgot you have a Nistune ECU. Use Nistune to do all the tests I mentioned instead of faffing with 30+ year old electrical connectors. You can read MAF volts off that too, there are reference values in the service manual to tell you roughly what it should be in different conditions.
    • No. I think it might be the AFM. Hence the use of the terms "swaptronics", which implies the use of swapping out electronics for the purpose of diagnosis. It's about the only way to prove that a small/niggling/whatever problem with an AFM or a CAS or similar is actually caused by that AFM/CAS/whatever. A known good item swapped in that still gives the same problem is likely to be caused somewhere else. They're all the same. Spraying AFMs with cleaner is an each way bet between cleaning it and f**king it.
    • Oh wow! This might actually work amazingly. Do you know the ratio of the diff? I was told the only thing you need to make sure of is if the front & rear diff ratios are the same. Ours is a 4.083 Thanks!
