im thinking of getting a Blitz Nur Spec cat back because ive herd this thing produces insane noise and loudness and is supposed to come with a silencer when u need to turn it down a tone.

is there anything wrong with my selection with this cat back. im one of those people who dont choose 2nd rate thing and i only go for the best.

what would u guys recommend for a cat back system and why?

Meh choose any, they all do the same job.

Your oppinion is your own - what sounds good to me might sound shit to you - so go and spend some time at cruises and ask the folks what system they have. You need to hear it with your own ears, my oppinion will mean nothing to you.

I have a Bee*R catback system, but i also have front and dump. It sounds fine to me.

Fujitsubo power getter extreme II

Fark oath... Looks awesome and sounds just as good

Actually scratch that... If your still going through with the flame thrower idea go something cheap like an X-Force.

I have one of these. It's not insanely loud, borderline legal I reckon. I haven't been pulled over for it... but I don't drive everywhere at 6500rpm either. Sounds pretty good with 3" dump and cat but has an annoying drone at about 2000rpm.

To be honest I don't think one is particularly better than others, just find one in good nick at a good price whether it's Blitz/HKS/Fujitsubo/CES/whatever and you'll be happy, RBs sound sweet anyway. Inline 6s mmmmmm......

kakimoto full-mega single n1

thats wat u call an exhaust! noise & power wise... aahh i miss the noise it use to make, it didnt drone either it was the perfect noise esp once you open it up in the higher revs.. the noise was so intimidating would scare ppl at idle already hahha

oh forgot to add i think it was 110db@4800rpm tho with a full turbo back system on a r33 gtst.. pretty sure it'll sound the same on a 34.

DUDE hahah how many posts do you wanna make??

THere are endless number of these type of threads.. Seriously search mate..

Edit: I wont be harsh.. Man just go out there and listen.. My $200 second hand catback -jasma approved one sounds so much better someone who spends like 1k on some jap brand.. Mine sounds tough and not drony..

On that note, search dude!!! i remember last year endless number of these type of threads!!

goddamit!!

im getting an x-force turbo back soon from just jap - i think it sounds awesome.

u think as in u dont know.....or have u herd em before?

i was thinkin that asewll...but i dont no anyone who has one who could give me a sound tester

an exhaust is an exhaust matey.

3inch Nur or Apex or HKS or local exhaust shop - who cares? why waste money on a 'brand name' exhaust?

google it (or ebay), shop around etc.

I suggest to grab a 3inch full dump pipe in stainless steel (turbo to cat converter - $220 from JustJap off ebay, excellent quality I assure you, Im using one), a big bodied cat-converter from Batmbl here on the forums (3inch miminum, for you and noise requirements maybe a 5inch?), again in stainless steel.

Then go to a exhaust shop and have a 3inch system, either stainless steel or cheaper option aluminium coated mild steel (what Ive got), made up and mandrel bent to fit. Dont get a resonator just the end muffler to suit your look (ie either canon or normal large-bodied muffler). If you go say just a canon muffler Id bet itd be pretty loud and have a nice note.

That way youve got a full stainless steel exhaust from turbo back, for the same price as a brand name cat-back system.

Just my opnion, but better value for money, more power, and all up a good full 3inch exhaust system that wont rust.

Sound.

You buy a cheapie exhaust and it's bloody loud. You get pulled over for it and have to deal with all the problems that come with a defect/noise/emissions notice.

You buy a more expensive JDM made exhaust (eg the Fujitsubo Legalis) that sounds nearly as quiet as stock. You don't attract unwanted attention with the exhaust noise and it may in the end possibly save your car from being pulled over and defected.

BS

My exhaust is a noname as described above. All 3inch diameter, stainless steel dump pipe and cat converter, and a ACMS noname catback system with no resonator and a just a big muffler. My exhaust is EXTREMELY QUIET. Just how I like it. No droning, no backfires, no loudness, just nice, just right imo. Cost me bugger all too.

If I wanted it to be louder Id take off the big muffler and put on a canon free-flowing muffler, would be loud then. From what I can tell anjo0 wants loudness anyway. He wants loud induction noise from the pod filter and a loud exhaust (from what I can tell). Or am I incorrect?

You bought your no-name exhaust from Joe's Mufflers

Person B goes and buys a no-name exhaust from Steve's Mufflers

You have a quiet system and Person B has a loud system yet both are no-name. Person B then has his exhaust system start rusting even though he asked for 'stainless steel'.

Unless Joe's Mufflers starts mass-producing your perfect no-name system how else can anyone get the exact same thing?

Buying brandname means you're buying something that is standardised and has passed through quality control - you know what the product's results will be, you have warranty and you have peace of mind.

Maybe, but each to their own. Im a ebay type and it hasnt done me any harm up to this point. Check out my bike link below, mostly ebay, totally high-performance.

Anyday of the week Id rather spend say $900 on a full exhaust system that Ive customised, then $1200 on a cat-back only system. JustJap stainless steel dump pipe ~$250, 3.5inch catconverter ~$250, mandrel bent acms exhaust ~$500. easy. High performance, good power upgrade, better then brand name cat-back IMO.

At the end of the day, if the 'noname' exhaust is too loud then add a resonator, or if its too quiet then change the muffler. All depends on your wallet really. Tell the noname exhaust shop what ya want with the mandrel bent cat-back system and go from there.

just get a 3in straight out pipe if you want a loud boy racer zoorst...better yet just unbolt your exhaust just behind the cat....but seriously if you want a good exhaust anything brand name will work and power differences will be extremely minimal between brands....rein hard make very good quality exhaust systems...

    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
