hey guys, Im up to the wireing side of things. I have an r32 skyline just put a rb25det motor in from an r33 skyline 1996 series 2. before i get started with my wireing problem I just want to say the accelarator cable fit perfictly is there a reson for this as alot of people have said they are to short.

powerstering bracket canot be switched over becuase it does not fit with the r32 pump, so I had to use the r32 bracket and pump but there is a problem the pully wheels do not line up, Since I dont have an A/c compresser I can use the aircon crank pully for my P/S but the A/c pully is a smaller wheel will this be an issue at all? maybe a loss in steering assist?

And for the wireing, I am very bad with wireing things up but I can and will persist I have wired my sterio system up 3 amps and what not so I know the basics I can folow most of the guides for this on the net. Im using my rb25det loom and ECU I still have the old 20det loom but do not want to use this as it is over 22 years old and very brital, The main thing I dont understand is the Series 2 what is the difrence in wireing these up can I just folow the series 1 guides and be ok? or are there a few little changes I must do. Just to clear things up the only cutting and wireing I should be doing is in the passanger footwell cut the plugs of the r32 loom? or do I also need to cut the plugs from the r32 loom by the P/S in the engine bay? with these few questions answerd I should be away.

Thanks guys love the site has helped me in my RB journy so much :D

RB25 S2 into R32 Wiring Guide.xlsxOk guys, I am frequently asked about the wiring for the R33 S2 conversion so I have finally put together a BASIC wiring guide that should help the average DIY to get the engine running. Please note the guide does not address the tacho, speedo, climate control, AC, CONSULT etc.

I HIGHLY recommend you do the wiring with both looms on a table where you can strip them back and remove the necessary wires and plugs from the R32 loom and integrate them into the R33 loom. I say this because the main power feeds to both looms come from completely different areas of the car (ie R33 from cabin, the R32 from the engine bay). I have prepared multile dozens of plug'n'play looms now and to do it properly it still takes me 10-12hrs.

Anyway, happy soldering and I trust this helps.

Hey guys. Im looking to replace the chopped up loom in my R32, with RB25DET. I have a couple of photos below. Am I missing something here, as there appears to be more loom plugs on the R32 loom compared to the R33 loom (rb25de one).

has anyone run the rb20det twin-pump (steer/hicas pump) on the rb25det?

ive done search after search, and only found non hicas setups, which is an easy swap, or others have just deleted the hicas,

and I don't want to delete it if I can avoid it.

im in the middle of re-powering my r32 gtst with an r33 donor car, using the rb25det and fs5r30a box.

im about to fabricate a new braket to mount it, but if anyone has a simple solution id like to know about it?

Use the RB20 pump with the rb20 bracket and bolt it up. No fabrication needed.

Then just source a 3 rib belt that's the same length as your current 4 rib one and it all lines up and runs fine.

Or just cut one rib off your current belt which i did and never had a problem.

Yeah your right, i mounted it before and saw the outer faces of the pulley dont line up, so i thought it wasnt going to work.

But have since bolted it on, and as you said it fits, the inside edges line up.

i had to use a 4pk925 belt with a rib cut off, i couldn't get a 3pk/3 rib in the correct length and the 4pk940 it had on the rb20 was to big.

But yeah its all fitted now, happy days,

Cheers.

I get to keep the hicas!

If anyone PM'd you anything about this? Would you be willing to send it to me? I have a z31 200zr that's getting the same swap and anything will be helpful

    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 馃
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.
    • Onto the android unit. You need to remove the top screen because there is a daughterboard to put inside the case. Each side vent pops out from clips; start at the bottom and carefully remove upwards (use a trim remover tool to avoid breaking anything). Then the lower screen and controls come out, 4 screws, a couple of clips (including 3 flimsy ones at the top) and 3 plugs on the rear. Then the upper screen, 4 screws and a bunch of plugs and she is out. From there, remove the mounting brackets (2 screws each), 4 screws on the rear, 2 screws top and bottom and 3 screws holding in the small plates on each side. When you remove the back cover (tight fit), watch out for the power cable for the fan, I removed it so I could put the back aside. The mainboard is held in by 1 screw in the middle, 1 aerial at the top and 3 ribbon cables. If you've ever done any laptop stuff the ribbon cables are OK to work with, just pop up the retainer and they slide out. If you are not familiar just grab a 12 year old from an iphone factory, they will know how it works The case should now look like this:
    • Switching the console was tricky. First there were 6 screws to remove, and also the little adapter loom and its screws had to come out. Also don't forget to remove the 2 screws holding the central locking receiver. Then there are 4 clips on either side....these were very tight in this case and needed careful persuading with a long flat screw driver....some force required but not enough to break them...this was probably the fiddliest part of the whole job. In my case I needed both the wiring loom and the central locking receiver module to swap across to the new one. That was it for the console, so "assembly is the reverse of disassembly"
