I'm in the 4th year of my traineeship with Powercor. (If you don't live in western victoria... It's like T X who?)

I work in electrical substations and look after the distribution systems protection and control system. Basically make sure black outs happen when there is a fault on the system and don't black out when they shouldn't. Hard to explain... but yeah.. High voltage stuff.

haha you sound just like that chick off the TXU ad.

i currently work for Repco doing a apprenticeship in spare parts 2nd year , 3rd year next week (payrise $$$$ ) cert 3 in automotive replacement parts , did cert 2 (traineeship) in 2004 in spare parts and did year 12 in 2003 and while @ school did cert 2 in electronics. Now though while i can't drive for about another 5months plus a bit more thanks to me speeding in a mates supra (136km and 6mths for my troubles) can go full noise on working on the r32 with a engine change, bodykit, 4 to 5stud conversion, front mount cooler and possible respray (got a mate that is a spraypainter and another who's a panelbeater ) plus a few other little things but no real power increases as i'll b on my p's for acouple more years.

I'm a full time Multimedia Developer at a Design studio in Fitzroy called The Engine Room. Great hours, fantastic team of designs, good pay and awesome always changing work. Check out our new site:

Just got my R33 about 2 weeks ago (completely stock) and fitted a Deceptor Pro BOV to it just recently. Finaly got all the troubles sorted with the BOV too. Makes a sweet noise. Going for an exhaust and CAI in about 3 weeks. Still deciding on some nice rims tho.

Have mech engineering degree

Worked last 6 years as mech engineer building gas and hydro electric powerstation in aus and overseas.

Who did you build the power stations for? Any of them in VIC?

Have a Cert IV in IT and a degree in you guessed it – Bach. of Computing (Bus Sys) at Monash 2 years ago (wanted to do visual arts but can’t afford to). I’m also a qualify MYOB consultant.

Used to work for MYOB as a Tech Support Rep, currently employ as a Data Integrity Editor for a business intelligent firm, yeah on MSN and SAU most of the time.

Working on St Kilda Road too.

I’m done, next!

Most powerstations are made for the local power companies.

Gas Powerstations in vic I have been involved with was a peak load station for duke energy at bairnsdale, and one near somerton off the hume highway. There have been alot of gas stations that were to go up in vic but the local councils and greenies have put a stop to them in the last few years.

Hydro in vic have been for southern hydro near falls creek and darthmouth. Most of the ones I have worked on have been interstate and overseas, hence being in QLD for the last month as an example.

If it wasent for the french government bailing alstom out of the hole they dug recently for themselves you prob would have a job with them

Over the years i have dome almost everything.many i never want to do again. But they help me become the person i am today, and i need to believe those experiences have afforded me this opportunity to be living in Australia and working as a Diplomat

the governments been bailing alstom out for years, its no secret. thy weren't profitable for quite a while but now are ridiculously profitable and shares are sky rocketting. just rcently each employee was given 12 shares or somethin cos we reached some target figures, i think each share is like $80 or something. but u can only sell after 5 years if ur still at the company and i dont see myself there in 5 years still.

    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
