Bonnet Retainers For Racing

Im planing on taking my car to sandown this weekend but i need to retain my bonnet.

Does anyone know the best way to put bonnet retainers in other that PINS?

I dont want to use pins for obvious reasons.

Make a piece of stanless braided wire swaged to length with a release clip. Fixed at the pressed bonnet latch panel, clip attaches to the bonnet loop.

Other wise an old seltbelt works ok using the same method.

Alot more expensive ( around $80 the pair) but tidy and as far as I know...road legal, is the Ford GT recessed bonnet locks. I put them on my Skyline after I got done for the usual type bonnet pins

Is this for CAMS regulations?

I was reading some regs of theirs recently and I got the impression that only cars built before like 1986 or something needed secondary restraints.

adam some regs still require seperate secondary restraints, most NSW events now allow the standard catch and integrated secondary catch.

You can use pretty much anything as the secondary restraint, webbing sytle belts are good, rope, cable etc etc just go thru a hole in the underside of the bonnet skin and around the front bar May not hold it closed in an emergency but it does meet the requirement.
