When i bought my stock skyline (59000km old) i was getting 280-300 km per tank. I spoke to a guy who knows skylines and he said change the oxygen sensor and ill get 400+km easy. I Changed the sensor (i used an aftermarket NGK one if that makes any difference to anyone) and now still running BP98, still stock setup i get 480...maybe 500km if i really try. Thats with normal driving and the occasional "spirited" moment.

I know its a little bit different, but my AFM's have been shagged, meaning that i havent been able to drive over 2500 revs and i have done 635 odd K's from the last tank and i still have quarter of a tank left.

Normally, when the AFM's are fine i get about 500k's out of a tank, driving normal but not holding back on occasions.

were and how much are oxygen sensor's? and were abouts are they located on the car ?

Easy to fit. Go get one and if you cant fit it yourself let me know. I have a crows-foot tool which makes the job a hell of a lot easier. Job takes 10 minutes (thats with a bourbon and cigarette break of course)

seems like connecting my O2 sensors has made a small difference! now I'm getting 420-440kms but last tank was a heavy right footed 360kms

YOU heavy right footed??? No, i would not believe that! ha ha

Correct me if i am wrong but GTR O2 sensors are genuine Nissan only and $400 each?

yeh its only when I wear my lead filled sneakers... usually its work shoes or thongs (true blue aussie :ninja: )

Wrong man to ask about O2 sensor pricing... anyone need any, call my bro at northside nissan (parts guy Adam "Chong" McGuinness). He sorted out a pair of GTR sensors for Trav (SLIPPERY) recently.

I have just changed my exhaust from 4 and quarter inch (yes i am aware its way too big, it was on it when i bought it)from cat back to a 3" cat back (Thanks Disko_Tek) and have just filled up tank. Lets see what that gets me!!

P.S. 4 and a quarter inch exhaust for sale. Nice note, shinny cannon on back. Will make good paperweight or door stop. :)

  • 3 weeks later...

my best ever... 492km and there was still about 8-9L in the tank!

I am assuming its the warmer air would be the cause of the recent increase in economy... jumin up from a usuall 410-420... although I did cruise to mandurah and back doing the speed limit the whole way (no thrashing at all).

I can get you NGK sensors if you require them. Cost $65. I have deliveries out of the east every week so its never more than a week away if you need it. should be able to fit it yourself if you have a crows foot tool.

    • Before I get to the test day, just to finish off the android head unit. This is a demo from car start up....the standard/host system takes a few seconds to boot (same as all v37) but Android comes up quickly. In this vid I'm using the delivered launcher but have set the default to Agami since which is easier to navigate when if use primarily 5 apps. You can see the host system still takes over when required eg putting it in reverse, and you can switch between Android and not by holding the back button 3 sec. It is pretty responsive (fast) but you can see I had to press harder than expected a couple of times.  I still have the phone connected to the stock system, and that also seamlessly takes over Android music playing. v37-android-demo.mp4 The bigger reason that I put this in though is so that I can use Ecutek directly on the head unit. That gives me a dash with logging (up to 20MB only), high and low value warnings on any parameter etc etc. I've run a USB cable from the Ecutek OBD dongle to a USB input on the unit, easy. v37-ecutek-demo.mp4   The unit did freeze on the launcher the other day, I think Agami was trying to verify the license when it didn't have a data connection...will monitor and report back if there are any other problems but so far I'm very happy with the upgrade.

    • So 10/10 times that code is coil packs? I mean if that's the case ill drop the $400USD or so to replace them. I didn't know these cars threw codes before the issue became an issue.
