lol, it ran a 13.6 on the 1/4....hardly an animal gtr...

also got beaten around the track by old monaros and some other cars....

It was Gavin Strongman who is a member of the NDSOC, I believe.

Not everyone wants an 'animal gtr'. His car - like mine - is pretty standard, and that's the way we want it.

Also he didn't get beaten in real terms. His car actually had the fastest time around Calder (short track), but he was given a handicap based on his 400m time to make the time 'comparable' with the other cars.

i didnt mean it in the sense that everyone should want/have an animal....i just meant it soudned like people were led to beleive it was some kind of crazy gtr (being featured on tv and all)

Im buggered if i could figure out the handi-cap system they used. They didnt explain how it exactly worked. I was sitting there with a mate, bragging about how it recorded the fastest 400m time and the quickest lap time. Next thing i know the presenter states that the GTR comes last after they apply a handi-cap WTF!!!!!

Seems like there's still a bit of hostility and sour grapes amonst the Ford and Holden boys when it comes to Godzilla... :(

the dude driving was an idiot lol, or so it seemed.

he didnt really know much about his car. when asked if it was an actual godzilla he replied yes, when the presenter said "oh so its one of the 100 australian delivered GTRs then ?" he replied "no its a private import"

haha and he was driving over the corner parts (dont knoe race track term) on the track and the presenter said something about "driving over the corners isnt the best way around this track, but obviously no one told him that" the dude must of thought he was driving a V8 down bathurst or something :S

I dont see anything wrong with that statement...there were some aus delivered 32 GTR's, then there are the 1's that have been imported from japan....they're not aus delivered...

The Aussies were the ones who gave the R32 GTR the nickname Godzilla werent they?

Still, I think his comment that his car is a Godzilla is still valid, end of the day its the same thing....

Also, Gavin Strongman, the owner, has a very nice collection of rare, modified Nissans, including the ex-Bathurst DR30 so I would presume he'd be no slouch when it comes to knowing his Nissans.

thats what i meant, the aussies started the godzilla name, therefore some ppl say it only applies to aussie delivered R32s not saying i agree with that, but thats what the presenter was getting at, and if the dude was as knowledgable about nissans as he is said to be im sure he would of understood that, regardless of wether or not he agreed with it. either way im not trying to start an argument just voicing my opinion :)

Yeah the aussies just labelled the R32 GTR as 'Godzilla' not specifically the Aussie delivered ones though. It got the nickname because the car came to Australia and smashed everyone in Group A racing. Nissan had nothing to do with the nickname I dont think, as stated already it was a media adopted name...

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
