I just got a significantly better insurance quote from Ryno aswell. Problem is it says car must be regularly garaged at night... my car doesnt go in the garage, it goes behind the house (and on an acreage at that so pretty damn safe). Is it safe to just say its garaged??

Whilst your car is most probably safe in its situation- I wouldn't risk it as you may be in breach of your duty of disclosure if it comes to claim time.

no. they'll avoid paying a claim if they knew that. A garrage is not just for security either, it's for hail damage protection also.

How?

Investigators dude....

seriously - whats the point in lying?

ok, you pay for insurance saying its "garaged" but whats the point, claim time, you lied, fatone, claim declined.

so you have paid for nothing.

simple - dont lie.

I wasn't saying lie I'm genuinely curious, has anyone actually ever heard of them doing periodic checks to see if the car in question is parked on the street. If it was stolen how would they know if it was on the street or not, its now gone so its your word against their word, come pay out time unless they had proof it wouldn't stand up in court and they would have to pay out. Does that mean if its parked out on the street while you are cleaning out your garage its not covered? Its just a general thing to gauge how likely it is to get pinched, I doubt its written in the contract that it must under all circumstances be stored in the garage every single night or your insurance is void.

One contract i read, but didnt end up agreeing to said the car must be parked in the garage EVERY night unless it was more than 200m from the registered address i.e. you could go out or to a mates place all night, just not leave it behind your own house.

Guys anyone know who i can go with when i semi regularly park my line at train stations and friends houses when i go to work? Only insurance companies that seem to be willing to insure me are Just Cars and Young and Cool. $1800 just cars but $2.8k excesses.... young and cool 2.2k premium and 500-1k excess...

Ryno and Vigil would insure me for around $1400 premium and $500 excess if i didnt park it in public during the day. :bunny: I mean im damn carefull about where i do park it so it has maximum safety and doesnt draw attention. dammit. Anyone??

Mate you are always gunna struggle with insurance especially if you park your line in a public carpark or on the street. These cars are considered a high risk car for both theft and accidents; therefore this is reflected in both the premiums and excesses. I doubt anyone else will touch you to be honest :)

Looks like i will have to go with Young and Cool, 2.2k premium, about $400 more than justcars are quoting me to renew my policy, but much lower excess should something bad happen. Bugger.

Does anyone know much about young and cool? They have a good rep?

Woohoo!.. Just did some shopping around for my CTP Greenslip previously was $550-$600 for the renewal with NRMA.

This year at the age of 25 :)

Just got it in the mail after getting a quote over the phone on the weekend

AAMI Premium $251.23

GST: $25.12

MCIS Levies $82.65

TOTAL: $359

ah sweet,

Im 25 now, so thats a great thing to look forward - a cheap greenslip!!!

Xizor - unfort if thats the main use forthe car - justcars or young and cool will be the only two options.

    • Ha ha ha, that's fair mate! We have the crackhead dogs now. Mainly because the missus wants the crazy dogs while she still has the energy and capacity to be able to keep up with them! Ha ha our current two are both Working GSD, there brothers and sisters (from the same litters) are in Police, Corrective Services, and I believe one did end up in defence force too. They're wild and fun, yet right now, both curled up asleep on the lounge room floor while we watch some TV. Mal is very likely the next dog (unless I get my couch potato guardian dog 😛 )   What are your Kitties names? Are you planning some house work, like those high kitty shelves, built in scratching post, and some cat passages from one room to another room?
    • Maine Coone, did look at but to big and fluffy As for performance dogs, we had Mals at work, performance dogs are fun to watch, but, way to much work for this old rooster
    • Yep, it was only an option on the Q50 Hybrid.  Same in Japan as far as I know. And doesn't use a centre diff like the Suby's do, so not the same as the WRX.  But it also isn't a reactive AWD like other Nissan AWD vehicles are, eg. Murano/Xtrail/etc.
    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
