Hey ppls.

Well, here's the clutch that came out of my car today.

A nice new Exedy 8 button sprung centre thing is in there now.

BUT.

Things to spot below.....

Glazing

Heat colouration of centre section

Heat spots on pressure plate

Uber wear of friction material

I did the clutch in my R33 a couple of weeks ago, mine looked worse than that. I wish had kept it now to get some photos.

I should see if my mate got any photos of the clutch in his Pulsar, it exploded into lots of little pieces.

roasted the clutch in my mates 12,000 kay old hilux doing burnouts offroad and pulled the entire clutch disk lining out of the gap between the box and bellhousing. lol

hahaha, the if u knew the dude that owned it ud understand, also the clutch was no where near the power handling ability it was claimed to be from the shop that put it in for him.

Even if the clutch was not rated for the power of the car, I wouldn't think it would shred the clutch like that. I have seen clutches explode from being driven in stupid ways, my clutch was FUBAR when I pulled it out, but I have never seen a clutch do that. I reckon it is either a defective clutch plate or not put in properly.

no, it is possible to do that to any clutch.

the night before we put my bros clutch in he though he'd go out and thrash the clutch as much as he could.

basicly, he sat there and made it slip for ages, which caused the material to shit it self leaving the rivets there to scratch holes in the pressure plate.

he also f**ked up the flywheel (he had a new one to put in anyway)

all in all the car wasnt drivable and had to be pushed into the garage.

    • Maybe also really stiffly sprung track cars. Get the inside wheel up in a corner and all the fun stops. Also me sometimes (rarely) when I have to stand on the brake to convince the diff to drive the wheel that is still on the ground when I'm trying to diagonally get over severe driveway entrance, etc.
    • I feel like I'm missing something. You had an authorised installer come out and install a new alarm. Post install the car doesn't start, and you aren't getting the installer back to fix what they did wrong?
    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
