Sydneykid. What is your point mate?

I said its LESS relevant. Not irrelevant! You know for a fact that you don't need the most power to win circuit races. Its possible to get a lot faster by spending all the money on the chassis with stock power. If I get a stock car and spend all my money on drag style suspension it will hardly get faster. Obviously you cant have a 1000hp engine in a stock car with shit driver and get awesome drag results. But you have to agree this 1000hp stock suspension car will be MUCH more successful at drag racing than it would at circuit racing. That is my point. There is simply no way to go fast in drag racing without huge power, you can't make up time with a well setup chassis if you don't have the power. Look at cars like lotus etc. They have fricking Camry engines in them and will FLOG skylines because they handle so well. Can this be used to compare the Camry engine to a RB26?

You really have to stop giving me a free ride to fun

What you are saying is only engine power matters

You can't go fast without huge power

So it doesn't matter how much your drag cars weighs, only how much power it makes

So it doesn't matter how aerodynamic your drag car is, only how much power it makes

What you are saying is if I stick a 1000 hp JZ into a bus it will still do the same ET or TS

as say a Tootees door car chassis

To quote a famous TV show "I don't think so Tim"

And I haven't even gotten into traction yet.

 cheers

lol good one mate. Read my last post. I never said any of those things, you are implying that I meant them because its best chance you have at making me look stupid.

sydneykid you seem pretty defensive in your comments, but what do you have to show? how much money have you spent? You seem all talk mate, I wish one day u come across some of my mates single turbo Sups, i know a few single turbs sups that have upset alot of big cars on these forums. So don't be biased mate.

No problems, tell 'em to bring it on

I can be at Wakefield Park anytime they like

Let's make it a 30 lap challenge on road tyres

I'll even give them a lap head start

 cheers

lets get a stock camry engined lotus to race him around the track. This will prove the TOYOTA CAMRY engine is better than an worked RB26. (according to his logic)

A quote from you

There is simply no way to go fast in drag racing without huge power

You build the fastest JZ you can with HUGE power

and put it in a bus (I am feeling generous, not a double decker or a bendy, a single decker will do)

I will race you in a standard Skyline

Wanna bet who goes fast and who doesn't?

Too easy, I am getting bored, like candy from a baby

 cheers

Well you could always spend that money on weight reduction.

You dont need power to circuit or drag. Its just generally cheaper.

If you dropped 200kg's off a Skyline or Supra... regardless of its 11ty billion KW's, the car will go faster.

You dont have to have power to go fast, its that simple.

Power is not the be all and end all, its that simple.

How about Willobank, if you can beat a 10.1 @144mph on street tyres and a stock engine than we talking :]. Anything else doesn't inpress me. When you beat a 10.1 (with a stock motor), than he'll come and do some HAPPY LAPS for you .

Had the money been spend on weight reduction and not outright power i bet the car runs the same time or better

Running a time is great, good on you. What does it prove? Little.

You really gotta remember what you said and not get it confused with what I said.

Once more I have to quote you............getting tedious isn't it?

QUOTE(DennisRB30 @ 10 Jul 2006, 01:29 PM)

Anyone that argues MPH at the drags is not a good indication of an engines power potential............

Your the one who claimed MPH is a good indication of engine power

A statement that I totally dissagre with and have proven so with the bus example.

Stick a 1,000 bhp JZ in a bus and I bet it does lousy mph

Hell make it a 2,000 bhp JZ

 cheers

Sydneykid.

You are being ridiculous and pedantic. Drag cars have minimum weights which racers try to aim for and no one is going to fit a 1JZ to a bus and aim for good quarter mile times. What are you on mate? Why did I fit my 2JZ to much lighter car than the Aristo my engine came from? Implying I don't know that light well set up cars go faster at the drags is ridiculous (specially since I already mentioned this obvious fact) and shows you have run out of relevant things to argue about in your quest to make me look stupid. It seems like you are taking my position on RB vs JZ as a personal attack and will post the most ridiculous crap like 1JZ double decker drag busses to try and burn me. What is wrong with you?

Come guys, we all know a drag calculators major inputs are MPH and weight to determine power. No need to go stupid.

What, it's all one way traffic?

He gets to choose first?

Who died and made him king?

Simple challenge, I bet my car is 10% faster than his at any circuit I choose

And his car isn't 10% faster than mine at any drag track he chooses

What shall we race for?

 cheers

So whats the point of this thread again?

:D

Rattle the monkey's cage.......and steal his bananas :wacko::(

 cheers :D

PS, I am actually finding it very entertaining, but I have to go, I have a 2600 bhp engine to tune.

Sydneykid how old are you? ....oh wait, it says it in your user name, SydneyKID :(.

Sometimes when you are talking to juveniles you have to speak in their terms

Other wise they don't understand you

Aren't I clever that I can lower myself down to the necessary level?

Without you even suspecting?

Any time you want to challenge me on anything I write, please feel free to do so

But be prepared to put up or shut up

I don't put anything in writing that I can't support 100%

Check around

 Cheers

    • Hi guys, long time no post as per usual! It's been a busy year so far, the biggest thing being a new job.  After 28 years in the automotive industry I decided it was time for a change.  I was losing faith in the industry and where it's heading.  Now in a completely different industry (electrical) working for a company that manufacture water pump contollers.  Not as sexy as cars but it's an interesting,  challenging industry. I now don't work Saturdays which is a bonus!  It's still 50-55 hours a week but having Saturdays ack after 28 years of working them is awesome!   No news on the GT-R but i did decide to add some more JDM goodness into my life....           1990 300 ZX.  She's not perfect but for a 35 year old car she ain't bad!  Just going to tidy it up a bit and enjoy it.  It's currently auto but will start stockpiling everything for a manual swap. It WILL distract me even further from the GT-R but im hoping not for too long! It somewhat proves a 6'8" freak can fit in a 300 ZX.  Sort of...  I drove it home from the previous owners house in Melbourne via Black Spur and Merton Gap (2 awesome bits of Victorian twisty road) and it was amazing!  Handles so well!!!   I don't think it would be worthy of a full build page but I'll post up some of the upgrades here if anyone is interested?  Cheers guys!
    • End game is to: - Remove all the slop from old worn parts - Adjust setup so that the wheels actually fit and the car is drivable (currently it is not because of the extreme rubbing on the guards).   Progress over the last couple of days, removed the rear hubs! Next steps: - Buy bushings - Replace bushings/bearings on hub - Reinstall
    • Cracked deck  And other cam snap stuff
    • A few random issues have popped up since my last update. My WMI pressure sensor failed within about 10 minutes of it seeing liquid. It was a 20$ China special, so I'm not surprised. My name brand replacement should arrive today.  My power steering assist also decided to crap out last weekend. The usual, works for about 60 seconds after starting the car then I lose it. I dusted off my old copy of NDS and connected to the HICAS ECU. Code 4 for assist solenoid.... I tested the solenoid and it's fine.  I knew the day where my HICAS ecu would crap out would come, and I welcome it. It was the last HICAS part on the car that is now in the bin. I've ordered an SSR and I will control the power steering solenoid with my Haltech ecu. It will be nice to have proper speed referenced assist again after all these years.
