I tried to put in my intercooler today and managed to remove alot of skin from my knuckles.... and thats about it.

My 32 has the active front spoiler which is fitted to the exact place my cooler bolts onto. To get to the bolts on top of there mount you either have to remove the headlights or remove the front reinforment bar. Both kicked my ass :(

The nuts that hold the headlights in from are hidden behind a few hoses that can't be moved easily and I can't fit a tool in there. The front reinforcment bar is held in by 2 big bolts and 2 nuts. I got the bolt off one side easy enough but couldn't get the damned bolt off. I tried covering it in RP7 and left it a atleast an hour and still no luck.

Anyone know of a way I can get them off?

It'd be a very straighforeward install if I could remove the spoiler motors

or is there someone I can take it that'll give me a hand (and has the right tools)? I don't really wanna pay someone to do it all for me cause I want to learn to do things for myself

Cheers

im not quite sure what ya talkign about but i had troubles getting my bumper off the intrution bar that was held by 2 plastic clips.. so in the end i just took it all off and once off the bumper was soo much easier to take off.. i didnt have to take off my lights or anything

oh sorry, intrusion bar = reinforcement bar

I wasn't exactly sure what it was called. I got the front bumper off easy enough, but the intrusion bar didn't want to come off. Theres two pieces of metal coming down where you driving lights mount to, the front spoiler and its motor's etc are mounted to the inner side of that. They have bolts that hold them on from the top of that bit of metal which is under the headlight.

If I can get the front spoiler motors off I would be set

I've taken off a few r32 bars/headlights/reos. The trick is you have to use the right tools.

when you said you can't get a tool in there, what are you trying to get in there? a spanner? some bolts can't be reached by the spanner.

also, a 1/2" ratchet and extension might be too big.

I also have a 1/4" socket set for fitting into those tight areas.

taking the bar off is a piece of cake. same as headlights. same as reo.

I've never seen that active spoiler thing, but I suppose it'll have to come off anyways for the fmic. Even if it didn't, they're pretty gay. Just rip that off if it's in the way.

Ok, let me try and explain how to do it.

Take the indicators out. It's like one screw. then just pull it.

take the wheel arch plastic off first. If you can't remove the clips easily, just break them. you can buy new ones from autobarn for like $2.

Then take the bar off. you dont' ahve to take the headlight off. There are bolts under the wheel arch plastic. and bolts where the indicator was.

the motors shouldn't be in the way, because the bolts you need to access to take off the front bar are no where near there. Secondly, you can't get off the reinforcement bar without first taking off the front bar.

ther eis no need to take off that reinforcement bar. cut it on the car. easier. but if you want to take it off, it's only 2 bolts. they're not very tight either.

Follow these instructions and you won't have any troubles. If you do it like this, the job will go from being a 10/10 like what you thtink it is now, to a 1/10.

Cheers

lol umm... I got the front bar off no problem

The reo and headlights is what I can't get off. The reo is held is by a bolt and a nut on each side. I got the bolts out and the nuts wouldn't budge so the reo wouldn't slide forward. I tried a spanner and my little socket set with no luck.

The headlights were even worse. I took the battery out and got the nut sitting under the what I think is a power stearing line. Further down is another nut but its stuck behind a solid pipe that isn't gonna move in a hurry. I could barely get a finger to it let alone a tool.

Cheers for your help

Success!

I bought a socket adapter that let me use my big wrench and got the sucker off. With a bit more swearing and skinned knuckles I finally got it on. The reo isn't sitting perfect yet and I ran out of daylight to cut the front bar but its all good sofar.

If you have a active spoiler you have a up/down button on the left of the driver. I think you have to have the hand brake on before it'll work manually for some reason. Mine was pretty loud, you could hear it over the radio if it wasn't turned up alot.

    • So I actually had the cover off my car today, here is a (bad) pic of the setup. I have an oil cooler thermostat block, the temp sender is straight in there. The pressure sender has a short AN line to a T piece which is mounted (hopefully cable tied counts as mounted....) on the chassis. BTW every fitting you could ever imagine exists....just depends what they cost and how many you need. Raceworx AN adapters are here: https://raceworks.com.au/fittings/adapters/, I think you said you need BSPT to AN (https://raceworks.com.au/fittings/adapters/bsp/tapered/an-to-bspt-adapters/) and AN to NPT (https://raceworks.com.au/fittings/adapters/npt/) BTW, braided line is super simple to make. It looks intimidating, is not.
    • Perfect day for a pie, really needs a soft top in this weather though
    • Prime parking, she is a little girl...LOL
    • I'm actually not sure - I think it was "Stealth Performance" (It really is near impossible to find a FEMALE 1/8BSPT to 1/8NPT male at ALL) but having the thing leveraged on a 90 degree angle on a small aluminium fitting is not too smart. Also in not too smart, I've drilled out the center of the broken fitting so there's maybe 0.00001mm of thread to bite into, so yeah. I may have to get it drilled/tapped/plugged entirely. Given I could conceivably tap a thread/adapter/pressure line in any point in the oil system I suppose it's feasible to run a line to the Nissan Sensor to keep the dash working. Do these exist in AN fittings and the like? Like an AN fitting that has a NPT (or other?) thread as well for putting a sensor in?
    • I would agree.  There will be an amount of boost you could run safely with an otherwise factory system, but it would be low enough to not be worth the cost.  And if you are reliving your 20s, you know a 'little bit' was never enough. Personally, if I didn't want to spend the money, then stick with NA bolt-ons, and maybe a tune.
