paulr33
The first and singlemost thing I can recommend. STOP PICKING RANDOM PARTS FROM MID AIR. do a search, keep searching and keep reading. have a look at the rb25 turbo upgrade thread. read what others have done. search for things like: 2835 by user grepin 2835 by user freebaggin hiflow by sydneykid gtrs by user thizzle Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/131032-how-2-get-250kw-300kw-at-the-wheels-with-a-r33-gts25-t/page/4/#findComment-2426586 Share on other sites
Cubes
Grepins is the HKS GT2835ProS, plenum, exh. manifold, cams and a few others bits and pieces. He's really pushed the 2835proS to its limit. Freebaggin ran a GT3040 with a .63 5bolt style turbine housing and stock style comp cover. Tim Possingham did the specs on the turbo for him some time ago. Back then it was worth close to 3k. The housings weren't simply machined to suit they had more work done to them. I believe it origionally was making 280rwkw on 17psi. Changed comp cover to the .7 ramped boost up and made over 300rwkw. Maybe he can share a little more insight in to what exactly was done to get the power. Color_Of_Green
Hello everyone.....I was flicking through a "high performance imports magazine" and I saw an ad for a high performance engine rebuild kit for a RB25-DET. It consists of: Venolia forged pistons Grant chrome rings R.E.V. I-Beam forged conrods Tomei metal head gasket Genuine Nissan full engine gasket kit All of this is for $3999 Is all of this stuff at a good price or not??????? cheers Dont get Venolia... Get CP or ACL pistons. Is that's the kit from hi-octane? Munna1
Have a look in the RB25DET turbo upgrade thead for turbo selection for a few ideas 2530 is to small for what you want to do. Id recomend a HKS GTPROS turbo kit comes with everything needed and bolts onto the stock manifold, it will be good for arround 270rwkw with room for a little more. At levels above 270rwkw you may run into reliability problems if you drive the car hard, plus the you will need a large turbo whcih means more lag. For 300rwkw+ a rebuilt engine with a 3 litre bottom end would be a good option the extra capacity will give you less lag and power can be made lower in the rev range which means less stress on valve train parts. If you go the HKS PRO-S route you will need the parts others have already stated Injectors - S15 JDM manual type, nismo 550cc or 740cc Fuel Pump - new bosche pump 040 or 044, tomei or nismo direct fit Air Flow meter - Z32 airflow meter will be plenty big enough ECU - Power FC with Hand Controller and boost controller option Clutch -Exeedy seem to be a popular choice Cams optional but recomended -Tomei pon cams Intercooler - might want to go for a JDM type, not sure how the cheap hybrid and hybrid copy coolers will go at this power level. Exhaust - 3 to 3.5 inch exhaust from turbo back with highflow cat (the bigger the better) As for pricing it can vary shop around www.nengun.com has good prices for your cams, turbos, ECU and intercoolers. Search the for sale section on this forum heaps of specail offers for exhausts, intercoolers, etc. If you shop arround you may be able to get away with spending less than $10,000 cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/131032-how-2-get-250kw-300kw-at-the-wheels-with-a-r33-gts25-t/page/4/#findComment-2427903 Share on other sites
shonen
Better yet, you can even see the video and look at the nice telly screen of it. How good is that eh? Stuff having a sheet, live video recording is a joy. http://skylinesaustralia.vidiac.com/recent...a697e4dad6e.htm That also includes a backup run of 358rwkw with a bit less timing. Safe to say there is nothing wrong with an AFM based car at all. OMG...thats an awesome vid nismoid.. I assume thats your car ??? Can you PM me some details on the setup ? Looks to be a lowmount with an external gate ? hehe those manifolds look suspiciously like GTS-R ones Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/131032-how-2-get-250kw-300kw-at-the-wheels-with-a-r33-gts25-t/page/4/#findComment-2430362 Share on other sites
R31Nismoid
Suspicion would proove correct I actually own a GTS-R... and it still retained some of the Nismo gear from the factory, the GTS-R manifolds are awesome. Good mate of mine now owns the manifold, they are worth a pretty penny lemme tell you. PM sent Amazing how the peanut gallery went quiet once the video came out hehehe. psybic
My tuner has expirience with both MAF and MAP applications for the RB's.If he tells me in his expertise that the AFM is not a restriction, then i'll believe him based on his testing and applications. I trusted his judgement and made more power than anyone else said was possible at the time. When a PowerFC is $900, and the AFM $250-$300 thats $1200. Would i be right in saying a MAP based ECU is a little more expensive in most cases? The closest that comes to mind is $1400 at the very least. I think more decent are wire-in at a $2000+ cost So cost for cost, the AFM + PowerFC Combo will works out cheaper. As stated he is in Vic, and *most* tuners will prefer to use a PowerFC down here as opposed to anything else. Nar MAP based ECU isn't always more expensive. Some people are happy enough with a MAP based tune also, even if technically its not as responsive. $1000 for Microtech (with x4 ign module) on my SR20 - $300 for tune. Self installed. total cost $1300. $1200 for PowerFC + the tuner said he would charge a tad more for PowerFC tune. Total would have been $1600. I'll probably go PowerFC on my skyline though, two more injectors and two more coils to wire might scare me off the microtech install again. Takes take a few hours to wire an ecu in. R31Nismoid
I believe Nismoid ran the stock gtr bov's. A GTR BOV Just one... not the both of them, you can see it in the vid... it is even plumb-back :sorcerer: Was actually talking about it today, it worked so well with just the one even with that amount of boost given. Definately worked beyond expectation without using both of the BOVs like on a GTR. There was a tad of flutter on 24psi. However when using under 20psi it was actually quite ok and there wasnt a hint of flutter or anything so yeah. Worked well IMO.
