vange, im going to be in town with my car bout 9pm. if your in town afterwards we can catch up. Im getting my diff swapped.

geez mate, coilovers, shimmed LSD.. next you'll be entering drift comps :P

George at Adelaide Prosound's greatest claim when I saw him the second time was that he's 'never had a car stolen or towed away'. Can anyone vouch for this? It's a big claim, but if he can set them up that good however well there has to be something going for him on the installation side of things.

Any installer who makes this claim is either lying, or it hasn't happened yet.

There is nothing an Alarm installer can do to stop someone from towing your car, nor doing anything more than delaying (although with a good setup/install - you probably cost them upto 30 minutes) a decent car thief.

Talk to Chris Rogers, or any other of the recommended guys on this forum.

No car is unstealable, it sucks, but its the truth.

Talking about Coilovers -> Are they legal or not? Had lowered suspension before i went into regency, got em replaced with stock before i went in (while ago now). Just thinking of the possability of going back to something lower as at the moment i hate sitting at van height (well...typical family sedan height)

I believe the "newish" Pedders Coilovers are Australian approved, BUT don't quote me on this, but is worth looking into, but at the end of the day im sure there is something else on your car which would send you to regency anyways, it would just mean that it would be 1 less thing to change back i suppose!

While I agree with Deluxe about there being other things that might send you to Regency, suspension is probably the most easily spottable defect.

It's a pity cars look so much nicer lowered, not to mention the handling benefits of improved suspension.

it will help to a certain extend go too low and then it acts the reverse

Talk to a suspension engineer, tell them what you plan on throwing your car at, and just how much you want to spend.

In turn he will tell you what you need to do in regards to springs, shocks, ride height, wheels and tyres for you to stick to the road.

The answer is never uniformly - lower it 3inches mate.

Thanks fella's. I had lowered king springs, then regency came up for a Turbo timer so had it all removed. Just liked the handling i had before (in my case i know am a few...quite a few inches higher). Cheers though. I'll ring around and get some info :P

Thanks again

Dan

Lower doesn't necessarily mean better handling...

I agree, which is why I said "not to mention the handling benefits of improved suspension".

However, while lower does not necessarily = better, invariably all aftermarket suspension kits sit lower than their factory OEM counterparts.

anyone know of sumthin i can add to my car for extra security?

ive got a 3 point immobiliser and i use a club lock.

i dont wanna go unplugging my ecu and crap.

is ther any other lil' thing i can buy to make it harder to steal?

Not too much more.

(1) GPS System

(2) Pager System -> If it works you can sneak up on them and do what must be done (with baseball bat in hand)

(3) Monkey in back seat (Rottweiler or the likes....something with big sharp teeth)

Quick question -> I'm thinking of getting someone else to install the alarm now. Just curious to whether there is a place or person(s) that can install an alarm say bought from eBay or the likes. Rather than like all the main places that install their particular alarm?

i use this mobile installer bout 2 yrs ago for my alarm. specialises in car and audio.

    • The speedo's can be very conservative, when my Mazda NC MX5 speedo is showing 118kph, the GPS, and a calibrated radar.... cop mate.....hits me at around 110kph +/- 1 or 2 kph, and that is on a 215/45 17, stock tyres size is 205/45 17 as well, so weirdly conservative with stock tyre size When my Commodore speedo red 116kph GPS had me at 110kph After doing some offset and clearance measurements to see what can fit the NC on 17x8 +40, without guard rolling or rubbing anything at my current ride height, I've decided that when my tyres are toast, I'm going to fit 225/45 17 and see where that gets me IRT actual speed of my speedo and GPS/radar From the online calculator I should be still be doing around 5kph under an actual 110kph when the speedo is showing 110kph My ADHD requires that when I'm doing 110kph on the speedo, that the actual road speed is actually really close to that, and not alot slower And going from 205 to 225 still keeps the car within the %/mm allowable in the NSW vehicle rules and regulations, which is nice, as long as I'm looking at the latest version that is.....LOL https://www.nsw.gov.au/sites/default/files/2021-02/RMS-13.464-Light-vehicle-modifications-Vehicle-Standards-Information-No-6-November-2013.pdf
    • Take the value it measured as, and pick the closest range available that is above the reading on the screen.   Also, no point just testing the coils. Read what has been said again. You need to test all your wiring, everything.
    • Does the scanner do all the CUs in the car, or only the ECU?
    • @666DAN sorry to bring you and old thread.     I've got my de+t done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.    Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd when selected . But nothing when in  drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic. I'm sure there is maybe 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Do ya have any ideas?     Cheers man
    • Well I recently changed my rear axles and was thinking if I bumped anything, I have been driving the car for a while now though... But it has been raining today so everything is wet under the wheel arches. Brakes feel fine and can't hear any of the metal screamers, I had a squeak coming from one of the handbrake drums but that seems to have gone away a while ago. I was going down a hill when it lit up and I did feel the abs bite for a second and question why it did it?
