Yeh the R32 can be chipped and many do it with great success. If you plan on keeping the car in the same tune for a long period of time, re-mapped OE ECUS are they way to go.

Im looking for more flexibility, and will be enrolling in the next MOTEC seminar to get a better understanding of tuning, so when the mods come together, i will one day be able to do it myself. (Did i hear someone suggest a NSW SAU Group Buy for a lambda sensor???)

A question for you WA guys, have spoken to many NSW shops and all are terrified of the WOLF EMS. I agree on paper they look great, + your comments = me with cash in hand and wanting to buy one.

But no shop wants to touch it, only the Autronic dealer will do it, but will cost me more then if i have him install an SMC. Ive tried Jap shops, rotor shops, Motorsport places, and all are warning me off the WOLF.

I am trying to tell them perhaps their bad experiences are with the ver3 not ver4. Surprise , surprise they all recommend Microtech, the sme computer im not wanting to use due to past experiences.

Can you guys speak to your tuners and see if they know of a competent NSW tuner familiar with WOLF 3D ver.4.

Roy, WA's distributor is SST (Steve-SST on here I think his username is)

There's mixed responses here too, some places say they're a lot of trouble (cold starts, normal cruising when not under full load due to not being able to resolve the difference or something), whereas others say they're a gift to us from gods hehehe

I recently borrowed a few mags off a mate as I've been hunting for info on Wolf's, and have been reading about them in reviews, they seem to get alright reviews, but there seems better options

good thread, i'm hoping i can get my HKS stuff tuned somewhere, but if not then i'll be looking for a new computer as well. Everyone says Power FC as they are tried and true, but it seems like there are a lot more australian computer for the same price that have way more features. Surely tuning is tuning... and once you know how to tune fuel, ignition and timing maps, wouldn't it be the same on all computers?! maybe my ignorance of tuning is showing through...

... just got my hands on a Power FC for the R32 GTSt

Wow, I didn't think Apex made a power fc for the RB20 R32! :)

Is this the one which uses the map sensor or does it still use the airflow meter?

Did you get it brand new?

From where?

How much?

If I can get one for my GTS4 somewhere in Melbourne I will probably buy 1 cos my Microtech LT8 has got no closed-loop cruise(shit for economy):)

oh yeah, have you got the hand controller for it aswell?

the power fc that removes the airflow meter is the djetro model. I don't think it's available for the gtst's... i think it's a GTR thing, i could be wrong though.

And i think closed loop is an emissions thing. I also thought it was for economy, but was told otherwise... so maybe someone can clarity that.

Cheers,

Andrew

This sounds like a great ECU, infact I think I am sold. Only problem is, that like in the east, no one here will touch/recommend them. I have tried looking on the website, but info is scant. Rang SA distributor and he reckons that the plug in only doesnt have any additonal outputs and is only a basic plug in. About time wolf started publicising/pushing its virtues, cos apart from the west, no one seems to have a clue as to full functionality and application.

spose I'll stick with the power fc, but this whole retune for different weather conditions is a pain, unless you want to spend 2-3 hundy a pop, just got to drop the boost back:(

When some of you guys say that you/someone else has done some digging and found that there are "better options", what were those options? I'll hopefully be getting an aftermarket ECU shortly and am currently tossing up between the Wolf3Dv4 and a Haltech E6K, unless someone has some other, better, alternatives.

And yes, I've done a search and plenty of reading but still haven't made up my mind ;)

hmm interesting topics, cant decide which way to go! main thing is just the whole closed loop / open loop thing between Wolf and Microtech.

im in WA so i have the Wolf option wide open, however its going to cost me around $800 more than a Microtech LTX8 it seems, which is a fair amount more!

if the wolf was around 1600 tuned like one other guy in this thread said then id be going for that. but its more like 2200 over here.

    • Yeah I also looked at Plazmaman, but, it ended up alot  cheaper getting black ones through EFI when you also added in the delivery cost
    • Nice shot! They look super clean. The roof rack delete on the black one is interesting. Would like to see more pictures from different angles. It's subtle but could make quite a difference to how the car looks in profile.
