chunkylover
Before i bought the car i asked the guy what fuel it was tuned too, and he said Shell Optimax 98. So i try to fill up with shell all the time. I noticed when i fill up with 98ron fuel sometimes the pfc indicates it knocks. Last time i seen it knock was 195, i have seen it up to 200. So i decided to fill up with Shell Optimax Extreme 100. Since i filled up it hasnt knocked at all (About 12-15 knocks). Since Optimax Etreme is ethonol based for higher octane, for long term use would it be safe? Cheers Anggi. s2k12
dunno but 100ron isnt 100%. bp 110 - 115 octane is the best imho. EDIT: corrected myself. paulr33
whilst using higher octane fuel will take out knocking you should just have your tune fixed to suit 98 ron fuel. the powerfc faq (in my sig) will help you identify the knocking show you how to report it to your tuner Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/132152-shell-100-ocatne/#findComment-2447029 Share on other sites

Color_Of_Green
Also depends if you're hitting rev limiter in which case knock value on PFC will show large numbers. scathing
still makes no sense dude........ Results 1 - 10 of about 6,030,000 for engine knock. (0.33 seconds) If that makes no sense, it means it would have taken you just over a quarter of a second to get an answer if you'd gone and looked. s2k12
lol, basically its a bad thing usually caused by engine under too much boost or stress. leads to detonation.
