Any in the works for S13's John? :happy:

They fit S13 same as Skyline we have already fitted.

On Sat trial fitted to Beer Baron's car and will need to make totally different for R32 GTR which has alower ball joint right where the air shoorts at middle of the rootor so might make a bigger one to shoot air here as well as above this. Also needs a bracket to secure to one of the radius rod bolts.

How do you reckon standard nissan pads will hold up on a track day?

Car-180kw.. Toyo t1rs on front, advan ad07s on rears(however might use different rubber on that day)

Brand new rda rotors front and rear with new brake pads (standard nissan)

First time on track, so i dont think i will be doing anything crazy!!

Or should i change my pads before i go on the track day?

yep, they need some re-working to work on a GTR. but they look very nice. very light, easy to fit etc. once you have the GTR design down pat they will be a good thing. I'll be running them for sure. I think they will work even better if you have the factory GTR ducts in place.

Hey John thanks for the DS 2500's... really like them as a street pad, they are nice and linear and no squeeling or carrying on... if they hold up well on the track I am going to be very pleased!

I might be in contact soon re the deflectors... just have to wait til the bank balance is in better shape!

here is john working hard on the GTR version. this hands on approach is a little worrying, but he does claim to know what he's doing... hehe

Looking forward for the R33 GTR versions. I think i have the same torch! snap-on!

I am getting a 33 GTR this arvo so if I'm nice I'll let john use it to see if the 32 GTR version fits on 33 GTR (i think it will).

I am confident these will be well worth while. plus they are piss easy to fit and look very neat and can work in conjunction with more elaborate ducting if need be.

I guess I would like to share my experienc from brakes I have used over the last 8 years.

Im a once a month track boy with 30,000km per year street use.

I used many brake pads on my R33 GTR, STD brembo, EBC green stuff (lasted one track day) and SBS carbon ceramic, the SBC were the best by far. STD rotor STD caliper.

My R34 GTR was a different story, I went straight to the SBS carbon ceramic front and rear, they stopped great but screamed like a cut cat on the road for the life of the pad (9-12months). I then moved to the Frodo 2500 with Motol 600V fluid, the combo was maybe just a little better it was hard to tell, but my hair line cracks in my STD front rotors opened up and I cracked a rotor the first time I used the 2500's on the track, Wakefield. I then put a set of DBA4000 rotors on, the Frodo's lasted 20,000km (9 months) and then I replaced them at Christmas. I did another 2 track days and last week at Oran Park south, one of the hair line cracks opened up again and I cracked my DBA rotor, same spot, right front outside. I assume the VSPEC II brake cooling ducts kept the inside cooler, but its hard to cool the outside. I just had a new set of DBA 4000's put on.

I cooled my brakes down every time I went out on the track, and ABO BOB and I have almost the same experience. I might go back to the SBS next set just to check it out, but in reality, the Frodo/DBA combo is so cheap and do stop really really well.

I guess its hard to find a road pad that last for ever and stops like a race car and cost 20% of the Nissan replacement part. The Frodo does everything except comes at a small price if you drive your car hard on the track.

It must be noted that I cant drive very well and have to rely on very late braking to get good track times, my car does weight 1680kg's when its pounding around the track so its by no means a light weight.

Unless you are trying to keep up with John's 300Z and you only want to do the occasional track day I think the best bang for buck is the Frodo 2500. If you want to really push the boundaries then you either have to start spending more money or understand that DBA rotors can become a disposable item.

Thanks, good info Paul. :D I had a cracked DBA 4000 rotor, running EBC Red Stuff pads that seemed very harsh,

but had plenty of bite. Now using bendix ultimates for street use and Ferodo 2500s for the track with all new ducting. :P

I have the Nismo deflectors on my car, and Nismo list them as fitting all GTR's...

They are made of plastic and bolt up perfectly, basically bolts up to the castor rod...

    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
