what for?

The street or to race at the track?

You dont need semi slicks, you just need to spend good money and get good tyres.

I had 243 rwkw in my R33 and ran 12.5 on 18 inch 265 Potenza 8000e. 1.8 Second 60 ft. Thats what most GTRs get with 4WD.

So many idiotic mates of mine always go and get slicks or semis, and there times are really average.

On the strip, If you have less than 300 rwkw in a skyline and need slicks, you just dont know how to drive

best time was 13.3@105mph 1.9sec 60 footer on some runs.

starionturbo: the car has run 13.1@105 with 205/55/R16s baught second hand just to pass rwc. I dont need street tyres, i can run flat out slicks or mt radials.

2rismo: delivered to melb? how much per tyre roughly mate?

glad someone said it :)

not having a go at LTHLRB...not at all. 205rwkw with no ECU or piggyback is a mad effort...but all these people using slicks to break the 12 sec barrier...I was always under the impression that slicks were when you were getting down to 11's and 10's....

Personally I think that if you are drag racing, you should run semi's or full slicks. It's what the pro's do, and it shows the full potential in a time and MPH of your car's power.

Agreed. I was there on friday night at I ran a 13.43 with about 200-210 rwkw and my suspension setup is for drift/track. It's very stiff. I used semi slicks because I had them. Definitely helped. I'm no drag racer, just wanted to have some fun. Why not get some slicks. Easier than swapping or adjusting suspension...

my suspension is stiff as anything, its more drift/track aswell. But i dont want to go making my ass end any softer because it will be shit for road. The car is making the power yes, thanks Dez for the compliments, thats about the most power i can get now is 209.5kw untill i get my pfc. But i haveto resort to slicks or semi slicks to get me into the 12s with a completely std ecu/injectors/turbo.

If you're making over 200rwkw you DO NOT NEED semis/slicks/drag radials/whatever you want to call them. What you need is practice.

12.799 @ 107mph on Falken ZE326 buckets of crap with only 190kW.

got a quote on mt semi slicks, for the normal ones 255 x 16 its 280 or so and the others (discoloured) are 240, they had to use more powder to break it out of the mould, and the tyre is completely white PIMP STYLE. Does anyone know if that will effect the performance of the tyre?

It will absolutely NOT affect the performance of the tyre. The factory seconds stock from Rocket is 100% guaranteed and warranted against defect (other than cosmetic, obviously).

Yes I'm going auto.

LTHLRB, I still reckon you should call Stuart @ Bezerkly Automotive and ask for a price - 02 42261888

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
