Hey guys was around at C&V just then and saw the Hypertune civic just make 365KW at the front wheels just with boost, no gas!

They said it was with only 24psi.

The car is still 1595cc and revs to 11,000RPM!!!

They may up the boost more tomorrow at C&V's Dyno day. I'm going out to see it run next wednesday night.

Cheers

Now thats some serious vtec yo

The power curve would be interesting, civics are gutless in the low rev range in NA form, lowering the compression so you could run a decent amount of boost would kill it.

My money is on it coming on full boost at 10k :O

why are we even discussing about a honda. I hate honda and everything about it. I have even heard some honda dudes day vtec is like boost, can you believe those idiots. i say rev all u want bitches, i know when we stand side by side on a drag strip i know that ill Be putting my power to the ground ;). stay on one place and burn your tires.

Yeah - this shows how good your knowledge of turbocharging is! Car still runs a high CR (9.4:1) This thing has a powerband that is over 5000rpm wide - no boost drop off between changes at all. Similar power delivery to an RB26 with a big single.

Yeah BLRCRX (james) here in Melb did similar things/numbers way back when, although i dont know the full specs, its a mighty feat without a doubt

James originally built his car to Hypertunes specs, his engine build was based on this car. This little civic is running on a 6 year old bottom end (been over 320kw at the wheels for this length of time too) and is still going strong!

I was back at c&V today(holden Vs Ford)dyno day.

They got the little civic out again, this time with c16 and some new plugs.

They started to get the car going again but they blew a tyre, then they got some new ones on to only pop a drive shaft.

They left it for now but they will be running the car this wednesday night still they said.

I hope all goes well for them and they get the MPH that they want(140).

Marks car from hypertune is crazy i have seen alot of work they have done over the years some of the custom work the do is crazy so if any of you guys need soom work done get them to do it they know there shit.

haha I won't deny that one :)

In all seriousness, how can you compare a 1.6L engine to a 2.6L?

You can't tell me VTEC would make that much difference (if any at all) to a conventional engine running a high lift cam when it comes to high rpm power delivery.

Or is it just cause it can rev higher?

If all other things were equal a 2.6L would flow 62.5% more exhaust gas at the same RPM right?

so having a 1.6L at 11k RPM would be the same as a 2.6L at 6750 RPM?

In that case I wanna see a 10k RPM RB20 running a TO4Z :(

Your are missing something important frost...Its called Volumetric efficiency!

Otherwise by your equations we'd all be trying to stuff 454 big blocks in our skylines :)

BTW top effort on the figures must sound insane on the dyno at 11k :)

    • The final part arrived today to un-clampify and simplify the intake Who would have though a 1/2" hose stainless bulkhead fitting designed for below waterline bilge pumps would be what I needed Test fit on a 3" offcut I had laying around to see if it would work, and it worked a treat All going well the intake will be on its "final version" tomorrow

    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
