Yeh its not that easy because there are sooo many different options. Your particular car has the following:

Character 12 for your VIN is 'D' and I'm not sure of its significance. On 33's this character can be either D or Z

Character 13 for your VIN is 'A' and again I'm not sure of its significance. Appears to be on all 33's

Characters 14-18 relate to options available for your car.

post-24887-1163713255.jpg

Char 14 relates to Super Hard Coat (S.H.C) (basically an optional paint protection)

Char 15 relates to a rear wiper

Char 16 relates to different trim and type M and 40th Anniversary

Char 17 relates to remote central locking

Char 18 relates to Viscous LSD + ABS 40th anniversary stitching on seats

This is a very rough translation, so if anyone wants to double-check me please do so!! :)

ta muchly. ok i've just read this whole frickin thread (yes im an idiot) and have managed to figure out most of my model no. as follows

G = 2 Door coupe

GK = RB25DET

B = 2WD

R = ??

T = GTS25t (type M)

A = Auto

R33 = R33

V = Turbo

D = ??

A = ??

- = ??

U = ??

- = ??

- = ??

- = ??

does any one know what the last 7 digits stand for?

Character 13 for your VIN is 'A' and again I'm not sure of its significance. Appears to be on all 33's

Characters 14-18 relate to options available for your car. Where there is a dash (ie -), this means no option was selected for your car.

If you post up your ECR33 number I can have a look at your options page and translation for ‘U’ can be attempted. :)

EDIT: I just read further up and I spotted your ECR33 number (d'oh to me)...I'll check it out when I get home :P

OK Basti, here's a screen shot of your options page :huh:

post-24887-1163721520.jpg

As you can see there is no text for characters 14, 16, 17 or 18, which matches with the dashes (ie -) in my above post.

Character 15 makes references to a rear wiper, different rear spoiler (not 100% but could relate to the S2 spoiler, as yours is a 1.5??) and aeroform bumper.

Anyone want to double-check the translation please?

I just had the text translated by someone who has no idea about cars and this is what he came up with.

14. Super Hard Coat

15. Rear wiper

16. Trunk Lid Rim + Type M 40th Anniversary

17. Remote Controlled Entry

18. Viscous LSD + ABS + Two Special 40th Anniversary Seats

So i guess you were pretty spot on with your translation :P

Have you got any Japanese interpretation of characters 12 & 13 from FAST, so I can get that translated as well?

Characters 12 and 13 appear in "kanji" so more difficult to interpret. Refer screen shot below (which is your VIN):

I have been able to work out what character 12 is though. 'D' means "domestic", so I'm assuming 'Z' is also domestic, but more specific due to the info contained within the brackets. This could even be a local dialect, but I'm not sure.

I have not been able to work out character 13. If your contact can translate, please let us know what it means :(

Thanks SMR33, how can i confirm from the info you gave me that the car is a Vspec II? Im sure there must be some way? other then obvious things like the brembos, etc...

Sorry if this has been covered through out this thread... i havent read it all.

This is what they came back with:

国内 【こくない】 (n) internal, domestic, (P)

寒冷地 【かんれいち】 (n) cold (northern) district

標準 【ひょうじゅん】 (n) standard, level, (P)

Hey,

Any one of you could look at this vin number for me? With all details, I'd like to know ASAP.

ECR33104817

Thanks in advance

Grant

    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
