I am trying [in my amatuerish way] to install a split dump. But I notice that the split dump has no mounting hole for the wastegate actuator arm from the vacuum???? [is this what it is]. If there is no hole, can I use this dump??? The turbo is my std one with a GCG highflo job.

PS Didn't even notice this until I had half the inlet etc taken off.............doh!

The only turbo I've seen with the waste gate in the dump was from a Commode VLT (ie RB30ET). Stock RB2x turbo's have the waste gate built into the turbo exhaust housing. The answer to your question is that the new dump pipe you have won't work with that turbo......

surely you can just make it fit. e.g. bitta welding, dirlling etc whatever?

Thanks SteveL and Mr Italy..........

But to install a split dump pipe I would have thought that you would have to remove the rear housing for access to the exhaust and waste air?

Then you split them using the split dump, I'm getting a bit confused now!!!

The dump looks Ok except for no mounting hole, and Just Jap has the same kit advertised, so the split dump is definitely for a skyline.

The problem you have is that the new split dump is designed for a stock RB2x turbo with the wastegate dump valve built into the turbo exhaust housing. The turbo you show in the middle photo is not a stock RB2x turbo (at least none that I've ever seen....and that's more than a few).

Your turbo has the wastegate dump valve built into your existing dump...or that's the way it appears (in fact looking at the photo closely it appears you have some sort of aftermarket dump attached somehow to the original cast iron dump flange)....but it's a bit hard to see). In any event, the new split dump simply doesn't have provision for the wastgate valve arrangement you currently have.....and there's no way to fit it (easily).

I always thought it was a std turbo for a '98 Gtst, but I guess I'm wrong. Yes, the wastegate valve is built into the the cast iron dump flange housing. The dump pipe I have is an aftermarket one that came with the car, it bolts to the cast iron flange housing, it is not a split one, so I was hoping to upgrade, but I guess this will not happen [unless I also upgrade the turbo].

That is not a stock turbo for an R33.

It appears that you have highflowed something like a VL turbo, then to adapt the stock exhaust on (dont know why you would use a stock exhaust with a highflow but yeh) they have cut the dump pipe to suit that turbo, welded on a flange for the RB2x turbos, then bolted your dump onto that...

Infact, on closer inspection, it doesnt look like a stock dump pipe either...

Honestly, I cant tell just from that 1 photo. Its really weird, good luck though.

Its not a VL turbo as far as I know. It came from japan with that turbo.

GCG didn't say anything about the type of turbo when I had it hiflowed.

The invoice says GTS-T Turbocharger Part Nymber #713255-11 - if thats any help.

Can anyone post a pic of the rear of a std turbo?

Damn, learn something every day.........

I'd still like to know what turbo I have then [made 240rwkw with very good midrange before tomei cams], so must be half Ok?

Reckon i'll have to take it off and send it to GCG or somebody and see. Can't take it to anyone here, I'm the only skyline within a 100km.

    • The issue now is the 'fuel cut' while driving, and when it happend, it does not stall. This, I did not test the fuel pressure while driving as I cannot with a fuel pressure gauge. I do have Nistune logs, yes. I have also replaced the MAF Sensor.   Also related to the FPG Fuel Hanger – I just realized that I need a Deutsch Crimp Tool to crimp some cables for the FPG Fuel Hanger. Need to purchase additional cables as the kit only included 2, which are for the float. FPG has not responded to my emails so far since purchasing. I thought about taking it to someone and having it done professionally, but I am reluctant since everyone I took it to messed up in some way.
    • There's a good German place in Brisbane if youre up for the drive 😛
    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
