Guys,

I'm biting the bullet and trading up my GTS25T for a GT-8. This should happen in the next few weeks. Basically, I'm doing a lot of commuting now and am after an easy car to drive with better economy and hopefully some retained fun factor. I know I'll alway love and miss my R33 turbo. But cars get old and things need to change from time to time!

Standby for full report then.

I'm interested in getting the WALD bodykit for it.

Check it out....

that kit looks very nice on the 4 door. I especially like the way it transforms the front end. not bad. :)

See, that's what I was talking about! The Gialla kit looks crap in silver on the four-door, especially with that rear spoiler and those shocker wheels. It looks too high and narrow, which is a problem all the four-door V35's suffer from, in my eyes.

That second silver four-door with the WALD kit looks awesome though, and would work with or without the Gialla front grill... The wheels suit it perfectly, and the tiny lip spoiler don't mess up the lines of the car. Nice choice, Tooly!

Looking at the kit on the coupe, in black with black wheels and no rear spoiler, and it looks HOT! It looks low, wide and aggressive.

Hey does anyone know what kind of money we are talking about to actually have one fully compiled and registrated? I have seen a few around the mid $20k but for the 2.5 or the 3litre. I also know justjap is sydney is selling one for about $36k but i dont want to pay more then $30k for a stock one.

Does the sat nav system run on oz maps?? And what kind of money is it going to cost to get that running over here. Thanks for all help.

Best bet is to either surf an importer's website to see what cars they have coming up for auction, or have recently sold, or sign up to their mailing lists.

you need four door?

Yeah need a four door kids on the way. Been looking on the prestige website saw one for $26k but you have to add alot of extra's didnt go to into it. Spoke to a gentlemn today from Nagota Motors in sutherland shire way he said got one i can have for $30k drive away. Is that a good deal?? The interior of these v35 350gt is a bit sad too.Very plain i feel.

Also anyone know of the kind of performance (0-100m) 1/4 mile times stock. Whats the fuel comsuption like i.e litres/per 100km's. Does anyone have one with the cvt-8 speed is it quicker then a r34 gtt? I saw on the prestige motorsport they quoted around 6secs for 0-100 now is that low 6's like 6.1secs or high 6's?

Try Ben at Northshore prestige. I'm getting mine from there. I also got my R33 from him and it was a good car.

The quality of his cars has always been top notch.

http://www.northshoreprestige.com.au/

OK, the yanks reckon they have squeezed 5.9 sec 0-60mph. And i read one post quoting an auto magazine that managed to get 5.2! I can't vouch 100% for that. However, they don't have the 8speed tx, so it may not be comparing apples with apple.

In any case, I have G-tech and will be conducting my own private experiments with respect to my R33. Should be very intersting! :(

THe real selling point for me was the smoothness of this V6 drivetrain... R33 feels 'rough' in comparison

I rang an auto electrician who knows about converting the japan sat nav.. he did say to expect around $3200 to get a fully working converted satnav in the V35 (ouch). He was also trying to fine tune his TV/DVD combo for best reception. I didn't get a price and details for that (he was a bit hard to understand) but woulld expect it to be cheaper than the fully working satnav.

Fuel consumption on the brochure was quoted as 9L/100klms. PM me for more info.

Found the thread on performance.

http://forums.freshalloy.com/showthread.php?t=155291

"Quoted: Hey car and driver tested a sweet red g35 at 5.2 secs 0-60 mph. They also made a comment that said "Why in the world would you want a lexus is350 ,when you can have the g35" CLASSIC!!!!"

Could it be true or slightly exaggerated?

http://forums.freshalloy.com/showthread.ph...;highlight=GT-8

I reckon $30K is about right if you get the chance to test drive and look the car over before buying...

GZilla. Can't agree more, the Gialla kit looks just wrong

As far as the TV/DVD player is concerned, Alpine have just put out a range of new products under the title of "Vehicle Hub" which basically allows you to keep the factory unit and adapt new items to it.

Not sure if they cover the V35 (or any imports, for that matter), but it might be worth a try... Otherwise, there are always new ideas and products coming up.

I read on the website that they can do 0-100 in 6secs. If its true that they can do it in the 5's what a joy ride its going to be. I wonder if the america's are testing the coupe and not the sedan. I have been doing heaps of looking around and i have a bad feeling about the rear look of the car . I want the four door sedan with the round tail lights and the word SKYLINE across the rear. I have only found at this stage the square looking lights and a weird looking square shape with nissan skyline. Does anyone know if you can get the circle tail lights in the sedan or does it only come in the coupe.

Pics attached

That's very nice Will. I must come and have a look when I get home to Brisbane. I'm hoping to score wheels, bodykit and maybe some exhaust and other trick bits when it comes. Of course it's just for the wife :( since she can't really drive the GTR.

Geoff,

You've already ordered it, and it's on the way is it? ;)

You'll have to let me know what you think once it arrives.

On another note, hows your back going? any further improvement? :)

Not ordered yet. I need to rid myself of about 3 cars first, starting with the auto 33 which is just back from getting painted, then the lengthy process of finding the right combination.

Slow improvement with the back, still a lot of nerve damage but I have the right after surgery care so things have turned a corner. Will still take a year or so before I can work, but that's life. They pay me for a few years after disability reetirement and then kick in retraining if the old type of work is unachievable.

    • I certainly fall into the annoyed camp, but glad to hear that if it's happening at low boost then I'm not likely going to blow a turbo and end up with metal shards in my oil. Just feels like it prevents me from really driving it without hesitation and "peak" performance. Wonder if it's the VCAM, it did an impressive job of shifting the torque curve and faster spool, but maybe now it's "too fast" and there's too much air for how open the throttle is.  Based on some other threads, will also do some reading on synchronizing the actuators. They are the default actuators that come on the Garrett's and I would think they would be set the same coming from the factory, but if the turbos don't actually work exactly the same way at the same time as previously mentioned, it would be worth making sure the actuators are actuating together properly
    • I went down this rabbit hole before, ended up sourcing a motor from the UK (I'm in Japan) which also didn't function correctly. With the original motor, I disassembled it and reassembled it and it works somewhat, sometimes. What I could deduce from all my screwing around is that there is calibration of the gears on the inside of the motor and two ramps on the main gear which activate switches that operate the motor and move the sunroof either to retract into the roof or tilt. Where I got stuck was that, it seemed in my case that one or both of the switches that are activated by the ramp on the gear did not always activate and thus the motor did not move, causing it to sometimes not retract or tilt (apologies, I've forgotten which way it didn't work.).  Of course this part is discontinued at Nissan now, it's the same part in the S15 but no other models. I also contacted the manufacturer of the component for schematics - forgot the name, they're based in Gifu - but they declined to share the information due to being bound by an NDA, sadly. Looking through my pictures now, it seems I last had a crack at this in 2022. See, I so kindly wrote "open" and "close" next to the switches. If you figure it out, please do tell me. Those little switches, with the red buttons may need to be replaced.
    • It says 300ZX, does that make it an Aus delivered car? Funny how back in the day I just couldn't care less about Z32's and these days I am just in love with them. Back when Nissan was into pushing the envelope. 🤣
    • Hi guys, just after some guidance with an R34 sunroof that has stopped working correctly. It still opens and closes perfectly fine, but it no longer tilts/vents up or down. As a result, the rear of the glass now sags a bit as it drops down slightly in order to retract into the roof, but now it can't pop upwards into a flush position. I’ve probed the pins on the back of the switch connector with a multimeter and it seems like both switches (for open/close and tilt/vent) still work correctly. Any ideas on what it could be, or where I should even start in terms of diagnosing? I'm sure someone's had this issue before but I haven't been able to find anything online relating to this specific issue, most of the issues are with the seals leaking or the motor failing entirely. Thanks in advance!
