I have just replaced the fuelpump in my R32 gtst with a R32 GTR pump and it was nearly a bolt right in job. only took an hour and 15.

I had to use the sock from the gtst pump as the gtr sock was too long and fouled on the bottom of the tank. I couldnot clip it on as the clip was around the wrong orientation but it fits snugly under the rubber bottom and backing plate. so it's in and working.

2 questions...

1. How loud are they normally. it wirrs evenly and fairly loud outside the car, and you can hear it mildly from inside the cabin. (my exhaust is very quiet) is it normal for it to sound like I have a boot full of bees?

2. I am running the standard wiring as I do not need the max flow out of the pump and do not want to run it direct feed. Do I need to put a larger fuse in for the new pump?

my standard GTR pump was not audible at all. car has loud exhaust though. but it's definately a quiet pump. i mean, it's an OEM pump designed for average joe who doesn't want a noisy pump.

Quiet. You should barely be able to hear it, if at all.

You've most likely got it mounted to something solid; which is transferring the vibrations to the

tank itself and amplifying the noise.

Case in point: took my GTR pump out of my car (was quiet as) when fitting an 044 and loaned it

to a mate to try in his Cefiro who had a GTR pump we thought was faulty (because of how loud

his pump was). Fired it up, same noise level (i.e. my once-quiet pump was super loud).

The pump mounted onto a stalk hanging down from the lid of the tank with no dampeners;

we're pretty sure this is why it was so loud.

Regards,

Saliya

ok It's all good I think. I will fill it up and see how we go. the tank is nearly empty at the moment as I didn't want to open the tank while full of fuel.

also after driving the car today it's not that loud anymore. next to the boot it is loud in the car it's not that loud almost non audiable.

I got a 34 GTR pump in my 33.. and its loud as shit. At idle its loud, as soon as you accelerate a little it gets louder as it has some 2 stage pump thing... its getting pretty annoying.

they only run partially at idle to stop flowing at the full rate when its not needed.

how did it go fitting in the 33gts-t?

does the whole assembly slide in or did u just have the pump and fit it onto the gts-t standard bracket?

    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.
    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
