RPR33
Hey guys I plan on running a to4 turbo very soon and just wanted to get an idea on safe boost. How much can I run on stock internals? I don't plan on running to much but just wanted to get an idea.... I have a 3" turbo back system Front mount cooler high flow fuel pump profecb boost controller Running 175kw on about 9 pound (stock turbo) aiming for around 200-230 I have seen many of you guys running 1bar+.. My aim is for reliability before power. Cheers! Russ Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/138540-safe-boost/ Share on other sites
sinistaGTR
buy a pfc and injectors also a z32 afm Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/138540-safe-boost/#findComment-2580499 Share on other sites
RPR33
The car has a ksp re-maped ecu but I have no idea whats been done to it.. ... So a turbo upgrade is no good without upgrading ecu? tridentt150v
Suck it and see............but probably not! When I upped the specs on my car, the ecu handled it OK, I got more power etc, but it ran rich as all getout. When I changed over to a pfc I went from 200 to 220rwkw and from 200+ to almost 500km to a tank of fuel. RPR33
Yeh I hope the ksp will help that some how.. How much boost would you suggest to run! keep it low 8-10?? What will the stock internals take? sinistaGTR
the stock internals can take 300rwkw, but you nees to get injectors, afm. the question you need to ask is not what the stock internals can take its what tune your computer has in it to keep tha A/F ratio safe. MBS206
sinistagtst: If the injectors, fuel pump, Z32 AFM and computer is there, and it is being setup on the dyno, what is a safe but higher level of boost to run? You say the car can handle 300RWKW on stock internals, is that just exhaust and cramming more boost in with a FMIC, or is that a ported head/cams etc as well? I'd like to know what a "safe" high level of boost is on the RB25DET for when I upgrade turbos. RPR33
So I geuss I'll put it on and take it to a dyno? But still safe boost?? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/138540-safe-boost/#findComment-2582219 Share on other sites

I know theres a guy here in adelaide with 300rwkw with stock bottom end, running a gt3040, tomei cams, pfc, injectors, z32 and the usuals and thats on 18psi. most ppl who are getting 300rwkw out of the stock bottom end are usually on bout 17-18psi and have cams but no porting etc. really the only safe way to know how your goin is to put it on the dyno and just seeing by the A/F ratio. So dont just go wacking 15 or 18 psi straight into your car get it tuned by someone proper and then you can see how much boost etc you can run. RPR33
So as long as my air/fuel is right it'll be fine.. As the stock ecu, injectors, afm won't let me go very high.. They will max out before the boost gets to high. so start around stock and slowly increase.. without pushing anything to hard.. Cheers!! (really should have come to that conclusion myself) But still how much will there take?? mad082
it isn't so much a rate of how much pressure. a bigger turbo can flow more air at a lower pressure, so the pressure it could take is partly determined by the turbo. if you run that turbo on 14psi, it will be well within the stock motor's capabilities and give you good power. 23PSI
GOt r33 gtst - Just got Hi-flow turbs - with power fc, fuel reg and walbro pump, intercooler, full exhaust etc - be prepared to do coil packs aswell you will run 10-11psi safely to answer your question - if you do nothing but be prepared to spend $$$'s on fuel cause your a/f is gonna go off the chart. Would recommend if you are going to do it without pfc etc to get a power run done on the dyno just to make sure you will be ok. bout $90 well spent if you ask me. Best bet is PFC, Fuel Pump, Fuel Reg and definately look at intercooler if not done already. I'd be happy with 200+ Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/138540-safe-boost/#findComment-2583064 Share on other sites

RPR33
not really sure on when it started the last thing done to the car was a high flow fuel pump but I didnt think that would have done it..? would'nt the car know that its running rich due to the o2 sensor? or something??? So shouldnt it adjust?? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/138540-safe-boost/#findComment-2594979 Share on other sites
