Hey Guys,

I have owned 2 gts-ts in the past year, and got defected with my old r33 for exhaust / height / Noise / Pod.

I had to go to EPA, buy a standard exhaust / airbox and have the (HKS 4" exhaust) moved around to accomodate for the 100mm minimum height.

I have just bought myself a 1997 R33 SII Black GTS-T Manual......

I have:

Pod / Strut braces / sway bars / hks 4" power exhaust / front pipe / dump pipe / installing fmic next week / turbo timer (already got). and just some average mags that came with the car.

I plan on upgrading the turbo / computer / / hi flo cat / injectors / manifold / cam shaft / gears / boost controller /

I have ordered my front mount, and am wondering how, considering i have all these mods done I can keep cops from defecting me.

So do I just need to go get an engineers cert once this is all done?

I realise I will always get defected for noise if not using standard exhaust?

With the pod filter scene, what happens if i put some sort of pod in my standard air box and use the snorkel? or even buy a k & n panel filter can they still d*ck me?

I am just so over the cops troubling me.. I have lost my license and doing up my r33 for when i get my license back in febuary.. got done street racing in my old 33.. 1500$ fine. 1 yr disqaul. 3 months CAR impounded at enfield, i even made the leader!.

Yeh so come on guys shed some light on how i can get pulled over and not feel like I am about to get but raped and have to take my car off the road .....

If i cannot totally make this legal what i want is to atleast keep it conspicous and have a coppas not have a clue.... (hiding pod) (hiding powerfc controller) stuff like that.

FILL ME IN PLEASE!

:P:D

i am 99% shure that you can have a pod filter as long as its firmly secured (with no movement)

as for the rest.. the ideal would be to conform :P but a standard commo or falcon :D

F@#k the sytem, try to hide the obvious... as i have come to believe it was the display of my gauges ans pfc

that lead to my Skylizes demize!

HEy mate, from my experiences...

Pod / legal, provided it is secured i.e with a metal strap to the chassis

Strut braces / can be passed no worries

sway bars / non defectable

hks 4" power exhaust / good luck here, can get a restrictor to quieten it down

front pipe / dump pipe / non defectable, as long as the exhaust on a whole isnt pass the legal limit

installing fmic next week / all legal, make sure all pipinf is secure and mounted to chassis in some way. Also cooler cant be lower than front bar. And front bar can not be chopped up. Depending on who you get, a properly cut front bar will pass regency. Finally, must keep front intrusion bar (metal thing) in tact. Which can also be slighty modified professionally.

turbo timer (already got).defectable.

and just some average mags that came with the carnon defectable

turbo / / hi flo cat / injectors / manifold / cam shaft / gears /

these are all good, except turbo cant be visually upgraded, ie use a highflow.

computer / boost controller

these are defectable

you're only allowed one intake mod

ie pod with stock cooler

front mount and pod = no no

you'll get done for the pod before the front mount

which is gay

This is wrong, the eastern states have this rule but we don't (one of the only good things about S.A)

As the guys above said as long as its secure and not flopping around you're fine!

hey guys i just realised I posted in SA section sorry guys.. im in nsw i have re posted it in the NSW section.

I got defected for the pod as he said its for emission reasons..... and it was attached / secured to the body very well.. ill just whack one inside a box....

thanks for your input guys..

I've been told that a pod filter is fine, as long as it has a mounting bracket.

Also I was told that if any body work needs to be cut out for the fmic is could be defectable.

I bought myself a Blitz intercooler that returnes threw the original holes on the passenger side.

Turbo timer, defectable. If ya love your ride, just sit in it for a little longer. lol

Also been told that after market BOV's should be OK as long as it's a PB one.

But untill I get pulled over, I cant be too sure. :D

how about boost guages and where are they not allowed to be placed, i have mine right at the bottom of my a pillar is this illegal?

i got pulled over on the weekend and told mine was defectable ... i was subsequently let go with a caution... i am very lucky boy as when police say they followed u speeding for 300m and u say i belive i wasnt normally you get fined.. there is a little more to that story also..

are lambo doors a defect and eye lids <------seriously?

YES, eyelids may get away with as long as not altering the road height of the lights, ie if light still reaches length can get away with but wouldnt recommend them if you dont want cop hassles.

As for gauges good luck, apparently if you have the one gauge pillars are supposed to be ok as behind steering wheel but then again, cop factor, depends on how much they dont like you or your car. In dash mounted gauges are fine.

    • The trigger kit I have is similar to the one in the link below. While going through Facebook, I saw someone else mention a similar issue, and I’m starting to think this could be related to the crank gear itself. I understand these parts are CNC machined, but maybe some earlier versions or individual pieces might have slight inconsistencies—it just doesn’t look right in my case. https://www.facebook.com/share/16an8evZd9/?mibextid=wwXIfr I originally installed the crank gear using the thin OEM washer, but as shown in the attached photo, the timing belt walks very close to the edge. When I tried using a Nitto washer—which is thicker—it actually made the issue worse. The belt walks about 1mm off the front edge, which raises more concern about alignment.   I’ve gone through the full process of elimination:   The tensioner pulley and bolt are brand new and installed correctly. The bolt isn’t bent and is oriented properly. The back of the tensioner and the idler pulley are clean and seated correctly. The idler sits slightly more forward, which I understand is due to its design. I’ve experimented with both tight and loose belt tension, but it makes no difference. As soon as the engine runs, the belt immediately walks forward again—even if I reset it beforehand.     At this point, I’m considering replacing the crank gear with your Race Version 1 (12-tooth), but before purchasing, I wanted to ask:   Are you aware of any alignment issues when using this gear? Would this gear help keep the belt aligned correctly, or could the walking still occur? Does it work with a standard missing-tooth crank and rear washer? Is there any specific crank setup or install procedure required?     For reference, I’m not using a front washer, as the PRP crank gear seems to replace the need for one.   Looking forward to your advice.
    • Yep, looks that way. Never driven an E30 or R31 so I can only imagine
    • Yuh, My new R34 box is sitting on the workshop floor (in its large shipping box, which is a nice thing on its own), along with a front plate to convert to push clutch. There was no way I was interested in rebuilding my existing one. Was only partly interested in the risk of buying a used one. But, if you want a 2nd hander, I can point you to one in/near Melbourne at least. @Komdotkom has one that should be in good enough condition to be usable. I don't think it's in a for sale thread, you'd have to message him. @redzedhas one that definitely needs a rebuild.
