Thought Best Motoring had a similar test in the past (911 turbo vs tuned GTR) Any idea how much a Mines GTR costs? Not 200,000 euros I'm sure!

I've heard AUS200k, but don't know for sure.

The Techart 997 is a beautiful car!

If you want to compare a factory car to a factory car then compare the new GT-R to this: http://www.ruf-automobile.de/content.php?s...=&details=1

I belive that ruff is an aftermarket tuner so that would mean that comparing that car to a standard nissan GTR would not really be a fair comparison.

Incorrect, Ruf is actually an independent car maker who builds complete new cars from bare chassis(based on Porsches).

RUF Automobile GmbH is a producer of high-performance vehicles, specializing in manufacturing new RUF automobiles completely from the bare chassis, conversions to RUF specification and the performance enhancement / refinement of Porsche cars.

Unlike TechArt, speedArt or Hamann, they are aftermarket tunners for Porsche cars.

RUF sells complete new cars with warranty, like these:http://www.ruf-automobile.de/content.php?seite=seiten/modelle_neuwagen.php

I do like this porsche, what are its specs?

The body modifications looks more integrated than the TechArt 997, which looks more like add-ons if you know what i mean.

im much more into the hamann porsche really

As said above RUF is an independent manufacturer, not an aftermarket tuner despite them selling aftermarket parts.

The Hamann 997 is very nice, I'm a big fan.

200K euro = $334k AUS.

This Mines built R34 actually sold for less than $150k recently I believe?

dunno how much it sold for, is over east (the one that everyone knows that scared the shit outta those japanese rivers) but it was in autosalon a while back and mines had spent over $300k on it.

there ya go :P

ive driven a 997 turbo

they dont drive like a turbo and are progressive in the way they make power

i booted it through 1st 2nd and 3rd looked down a realised i was doing 199km/h

its gets there so smooth and doesnt feel like ur doing those speeds

best way to descibe it is it feels like a fast n/a car

its not that they r tiny

they have are useing veriable pitch on the turbine blades

coz a tiny turbo will chock the top end and believe me there was no chocking in the top end

also as an interesting point there r no waste gates in a 997 turbo at all

Interesting how 334k AUD would only buy you a standard 911 turbo in Australia!

actually... you can get a brand spankin GT3 RS for a smidgen under $300k i believe.

yeah but the turbo is more expensive then the gt3

and there will only be 25 gt3 rs's in aus and they arnt in the country yet but there all sold

yeah these variable geometry turbos use a set of vanes in the exhaust housing to maintain a constant gas speed across the turbine, and the vanes are controlled by a membrane identical to the one on a wastegate so no wastegates needed.

this is also the reason for they have minimal lag not because they are small.

    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
