you could go and fill out the form.

when it gets to the living overseas questions, be honest and see what they say...

at the end of last year i went and when filling in the 'in the last 12 months' questions, it asked if i'd had chicken pox so i had to tick yes to that one.

got into the little room and the lady went through my form and asked when i had the chicken pox, i said it was in May and i was still able to donate

Got my letter yesterday too - for 18/12.

I'm checking with Nurse Debbie, but I reckon it won't be a drama, as they always need blood, and they particularly need it over the Xmas culling season on the roads.

My only concern is for James, who would be 1 week early.

(Strangely, Debbie initially told me Dec/3 was the eligibility date, which is why I confirmed 17/12. Anyway...)

More to the point Greg - I may be in QLD that day...
Well, that would solve the dilemma of the "1 week early".

Roy, not really, I trust you (though millions wouldn't!). More so I can get enrolment forms to those who haven't previously given.

Al, i i can stay off the grog then anyone can. That said if you have major plans the night before...i dont think beign hung over is a good idea. For no other reason then they are takign blood out of you and im told some ppl can be light headed etc after it and your not to do anything too intense after donating. So beign under the weather probably increases the chances of you beign even worse for wear after donating

Seriously- My question has not been answered

Is there a certain amount of time that is required to be alcohol free, before donating?

Greg can you send a form to: [email protected]

non in your system when you donate....

fairly simple isn't it?!

:) look at that.... i did a search :(

Alcohol - I had several alcoholic drinks before going to give blood. Can I donate?

The Australian Red Cross Blood Service does not take blood from anyone under the influence of alcohol because intoxication affects ones ability to answer the donor questionnaire and declaration and to tolerate blood withdrawal.

OK, checked with Nurse Debbie, who has responded thusly:
I've checked your eligibility again and the system is saying the 6th of Dec. You are actually eligible every 10 weeks but we send letters based on a 12 week cycle, as Doctors recommend only 4 donations a year.

So, it would seem there shouldn't be a problem.

Al - as I can't go this time (will be interstate) - I'll arrange a visit in a week or so. Will let you, and any other alcoholics know - so you can prepare.

This means you - Bec and Stickers

Will also back it up with some eatery and poolery at the Playboy Mansion.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well, I'm on. If you're going to Ash's bash, then you might not be on for Sunday.

There's an earlier post (#56, 4 above this one) regarding how they determine your next donation time.

Any other late starters want to join us Sunday 10am?

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.
    • My Nismo 1.5 churps a bit on reverse turns when cold, but besides that feels like a stock diff.
    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts
    • Bunnings would have just handed you your money back on that one!
    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
