Just wondered if anyone knew why just jap is selling this turbo (hks 2835 pro s)for $4999 when you can get the same thing for $2500 from nengun or am i missing somthing ?

Because they are a registered business, with workshop, employees, insurances, along with super and workers comp etc etc means they have overheads. They would most likely have to pay tax on the kit as well. So its hardly surprising they are more expensive. On top og that, they are allowed to make a living doing what they do so add to all that a bit of profit.

Not to mention that if there is a problem with the sale they are actually around the corner, not OS. If they buy off the Australian HKS agent the thing may even come with after sales support.

So to buy off them would be a better option?

Not when you can buy 2 from nengun for the same price.

Buying from os means you are running the gauntlet of duty and tax. If it slips in under and the turbo is in good working condition you have a bargain. If you get stung and find out that the turbo has been damaged in transit or is faulty in any way then not so good.

Is it, maybe the one from just jap is a complete kit. and the one from nengun is for just the turbo? I got my 2835pro s in aus (Unique Autosports), cost me 4grand delivered for a completer kit.

The other thing to bare in mind is prices are always changing, if it were me, and I was genuinly wanting to buy the kit from a dealer here, I would ring them to discuss their price and negotiate from there

Just remember that bussinesses need to make money so it will cost your more.

I got a gtrs turbo kit from nengun and it cost me just under 2700 bucks but if the customs found it then it may have cost me a good bit more.

Best bet is to do the sums and order from nengun expecting to get slugged with all the taxes and if it slips through then you extra cash aside for tunnning or extra mods etc.

So if customs find it what are thay likely to charge you for it, Also nengun mention nothing about customs charging you any sort of fee.

you are liable for import duty (10%) and GST (10%) on top of the purchase price and postage for anything worth more than $900.

so on a turbo costing $2500 with $120 postage = $2620 X 1.1 = $2882 X 1.1 = $31702.

That is the law. if you avoid it somehow good for you. I dont want to hear about it. I don't need anyone posting: "I bought a turbo that cost $3K and I didn't pay any tax".

hhmm ? Whats this? Are you a customs agent? lol

Its not up to the customer to track & wave down customs saying "I need to declare this and pay you $600 for the pleasure of doing so"..... AFAIK it is up to Customs to approach you with proof that you have bought something that requires a tax / duty payment.

Been though it many times myself, sometimes they will pick it up and contact you about payment, othertimes you simply receive the goods. BTW - never once have I asked the sender to falsify the value amount........ doesnt mean it doesnt happen tho :)

I never said it was up to the customer to chase customs?!? I just said that by law that amount is payable. If they choose not to enforce the law that is their problem. so please dont twist around what I said. Even still you are wrong with this idea: "it is up to Customs to approach you with proof that you have bought something that requires a tax / duty payment." they aren't obliged to proove anything. anything over $900 must be declared. Generally your agent overseas has the responsibility to correctly complete the declaration on the package. If you are bringing something in by yourself when you reach customs you are required to declare anything over $900.

And I can give you a promise that if you send a package from overseas to aus, with a declared value of over $900 AUD 9 out of 10 times you will be contacted by Aus customs to pay any applicable tax + duty.

oh, and I should add, what I said still stands. I dont want to hear about it. If someone evades tax, then good for you. if you cheat on your income tax hooray. but there is no place for posting up details of your crime here. If your supplier marks down parcels sent to you without your requesting it then great. If you do request it, you are breaking the law. and despite the comon belief not everyone that works in aus customs has a father married to his sister. many of them will open suspect packages and google the contents to get a realistic idea of value. and then you are in trouble...

I've bought AT LEAST 3 mail order brides from Japan and have never had to pay GST/customs tax uelh!!!!

because nengun $2500 isn't the kit, it is just the TURBO

The HKS KIT is like $3000 BRAND NEW, then ADD TAXS, Shipping Fee plus Just-jap profit and you see why its selling for that price.

nengun isnt a shop, its some person who setup a website, does not hold any stock therefore you can understand why the price is alot cheaper than buying local (a shop front has an outlay they need stock)

ALSO just because some people dont pay TAX doesnt mean you wont get done ALSO as beer baron said if you put down a value of 4000yen and they stop you and YOU CAN NOT PROVE YOU ONLY PAY 4000YEN you are in DEEP SHIT!

also if you dont like just-jap prices then dont buy it. im sick of people saying i can get it cheaper from here. no one wants to know, just buy it and be happy!

Cheers Michael

ps its a great turbo

Slightly off topic, but interesting none the less.

Unfortunately I have lost the relevant codes, but when I imported my turbos I submitted a claim that I was importing two "air compressor" units. These are import tax exempt items.

Whilst the "spirit" of this tax exemption is for refridgeration gas compressors (i.e. encouraged the use or conversion to "green" refridgerants), the wording was such that it could not be disputed that automotive turbine compressors fell into this catagory.

I was still liable for the 10% GST, however.

A turbocharger is made up of a compressor and turbine linked by a shaft. I'd be careful here as someone who has half a technical clue could bust you on it - compressors for refrigeration don't use turbines to power them.

    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
