Cheers Huddy.

I think i better talk to ryan and Terry pretty snappy.

I want the 23/24 so i can be different. But it seems like the 25de from the 32 is the way everyone is hinting for me to go.

Atleast the pricing from everyone is around the $5000 figure. I was thinking it would be different from workshop to workshop.

Just need to get to know the mechanic of choice for my engine swap so I dont get a brand new lemon.

Kansai is moving further away from me. Dam you TELLY

what about a 32 rb25de with forgies and upgrade valve springs

or 25det it 3.5k for a engine package you cant go wrong

shit take it to your mechanic comp test it leak down test it and if you dont want it

give it back and try again with one of the 2 other 25det we have in stock now

"u could do a rb30 for 3.5k

all depends what u want"

rb30 would be nice but he'd still have a auto rb30 4 door 32 unless he spent another $500 on a rb20 box which would blow behind a 30 sliding in about 2 min

so he'd have to buy a 25 box so add $1,500 to the rb30 idea brings you to 5k which is the whole budget

ps 3.5k 25 package all includes 25 manual box

Nothing wrong with an auto rb30. In fact hed have a faster car than u or i if he kept the auto...put an mv auto shift kit in it, and it will be as tough as your rb25det box.

Rb20 gearbox will last for a while too. Cubes ran his for over 12 months before it let go, now hes going auto as a matter of fact, so its in his favour to keep it in. Hell even im thinking of going auto.

U are speaking to the wrong person to argue about a 3lt

240rwkw.. Sky30 went through I believe 6 or so rb20 box's. :S

I've just done another 12months on the replacement rb20 box and its going strong with no strange noises. The old rb20 box had a thrashing of 4 years in my hands and around 135,000km's (total ~200,000-210,000km's on the clock) so it was well used and not just drop rb30 in and bang.

I'd stick with the auto for now. The rb20 box wouldn't blow when 'sliding' my feeling is they would last longer as its not 'gripping'. Grip is what kills the box.

Shop around.. There's one place I know of here in Adelaide that sells rb25det box's for ~1100. cut, weld and re balance your tail shaft, mod the gearbox mount and u'll probably get away with an rb25 box in the car WITH a clutch for ~2k.

Or stick a full manual kit through the auto box and it might even be better for drifting considering the rb30's bulk torque and spooling ability. :P

OK I have done the unthinkable.

I have sourced out a new engine and a full conversion kit.

So next week my car will be getting de automatic and bring on the 5speed manual.

If anyone wants parts off my engine let me know. Im keeping the timing belt, waterpump, tensioner & Idler bearings and rocker cover gaskets.

The rest has to go. So what ever you want let me know and im sure u can get it for alot cheaper then half the ppl here are selling it. i dont need a engine out the back collecting rain water.

So if you want parts PM Or Ring me on 0439455399.

The Autobox is for sale too. Make an offer and I wont say no. It needs to go once the work has finished. Should be a week.

Brenton. Im making a for sale thread aswell.

20.

Need my car fixed asap and i couldnt blow off the deal I have recieved from the mechanics behind my house. The owner owns a 32 and has replaced engines and g/boxs many times.

Plus i get a full 3 month warranty on all parts they change. So i am not complaining.

Its booked in for tuesday night. So hopefully a weeks time and its back in my hands/ feet and i can actually enjoy my car for once in the last 2 months

    • Look for broken wire or bad connector at the motor. Might not be it, but is worth starting there, as it is easy.
    • Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my R32 GT-R. Sometimes, when the car goes over a bump or experiences some vibration, the 4WD warning light comes on the dashboard. When I check the code from the control unit in the trunk, it shows Code 19 – ETS Motor. However, everything seems to be working fine — if I turn off the engine and restart the car, the light goes away and everything functions normally. Has anyone experienced this before? Where should I start troubleshooting this issue? Thanks in advance!
    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
    • 310mm rotors will be avilable from Australia, Japan, and probably a few other places. Nothing for the front can be put on the back.
