I am thinking about buying an R200 R33 viscous diff to put into my S2 Stagea, which doesnt have an LSD, one question, as the ratios are different, can my gears be swapped onto the LSD centre so as to keep my original ratio ? cheers

yes.

I'll be doing the exact same thing when I can get around to it. I have a spare 4.1:1 S14 Q's diff, and an S14 Viscous centre sitting here spare.

I'll only need to swap the diff cover out of the wagon, and use my driveshafts.

my ratios in my stagea were 4.3 and gtr diffs are 4.11, they are interchangable, and i installed the gtr internals into the stagea diff housing so all the attessa pump brackets remained as gtr have theres mounted elsewhere. the gtr and stagea housings are identical in size/shape except the mounting points for the pumps, etc. u can either use the larger gtr backplate or the stock stagea one, i had to modify the xmember a fraction (about 2-3mm) to allow the gtr backplate to fit on without touching the xmember.

ask away if u need any questions answered as i did the conversion about 14 months ago.

to answer your question, yes the ratios are interchangable.

  • 8 years later...

I have just picked up a complete S15 diff. I want to fit just the centre in my housing and retain my ratios. Would it just be a matter of disassembling both units, swapping crown wheels and slotting it into my housing and using the stub axles from the s15 diff? I'm assuming I may need to mix and match the spacer washers to get the crownwheel alignment correct? Possibly trying the ones currently fitted to my diff at the moment and going from there. I will try and take plenty of photos and create a thread for my experience once I get around to it.

Did you get a helical or viscous LSD? A viscous, especially an old one, would seem a waste of energy! Also some S15 diffs are 4.083 same as the Stagea (although there are a couple of other S15 ratios too).

I got a helical one. Pretty sure the ratio is 3.69 but I'll double check. Wanted a good street lsd. The kazz 2 way I had in my 180sx was far too agressive for daily duties

Yep if its a 3.69 it should be a helical. Should be a good open road cruiser. You won't find a front one to match - have you decided to stay 2wd (removed the front driveshaft)?

    • Hello everyone. I believe I have s1 headlights but I just wanted to make sure and getting confirmation from you all. Thanks in advance for your help!
    • Crazy how good the aero bar looks compared to the stock one
    • Yes, but you will need to rewire all the things that are different. CAS, coils, etc. Yes, but there is no IAT. What? You can use anything you like. It just has to be hooked up so that it will work.     Or are you wanting to just plug and play without having to do any thinking/work?
    • It's been a little over a decade since I bought the S15. As I did on my socials, I'll share some of my favorite pictures from over the years further below. If you haven't realised, pretty much all the pictures in my posts are ones I've taken.  In terms of updates, I don't have pictures, but I acquired a near-perfect pair of fog lights from a friend of mine, so those got swapped in for the pair I already had. As for the JZX110, I just got it back from being fixed. A few weeks back, I was on the highway when I suddenly drove over something with very little time to react. It was probably the size of a soccer ball, but it went under the car and banged into the underside pretty loudly. I pulled over and realized the fluid leaking was fuel, and of course, it was right near my exhaust. This required replacing the fuel tank. If you happen to be in the same predicament, thankfully this car shares a fuel tank with the JZS171, IS200, and IS300, so it wasn't too painful to replace. Enjoy some pictures as mentioned above, including the carnage from the fuel tank and a bonus picture I came across which shows how ridiculously shiny the Bugels are on the 110. So many more pictures I could share of the S15 but this will do for today, enjoy.
