Hi abdi, hope you had a good NYE :w00t: . Look @ this link above to start with. It depends wether you are going to use your own cash or finance to get the car, because if it is finance generally you can only use a dealer, unless you get a personal loan. When you find the one for you, do a through check... you don’t want a lemon... there are plenty of lemons out there for sale, so be careful [Get RACV to inspect, it costs, but its better to know before you buy the car if its shit, rather than after]. The last thing that you want is a Skyline that comes with a world of trouble.

look at this link:

http://www.carbroker.com.au/car_dealer_tricks_and_scams.php

Try these sites as well:

www.carsales.com.au

www.drive.com.au

www.carpoint.com.au

www.carsguide.com.au

Do some reaserch on the forme [ use the search ]. is your friend

hope this helps you out a bit. Have a good one

What are you being extremely picky on? Maybe list what you are looking for as with the hundreds of skylines out there for sale, nationwide, there must be one that fits your needs?

If not, have you thought about importing?

So the problem is you want a 96/97 skyline for $15.5K? Most people will move on price if you are a serious buyer. If you are PMing them with offers like that on here, you might not get much response. If I were you, I would be going to some private sellers who are pitching their car around the 16-18K mark and see what they say. That price from what I know would be the bottom of the 96/97 market which could be why you are struggling.

As Dezz says, that is a GTR so if you are planning on making it look like that, get a GTR to start with as the GTST lines and "hips" that look good on that car, aren't on the GTST.

s2 r33 for 15.5 grand huh? There are plenty out there. The photo you have put up there is a gtr - and no gts-t can ever look that good. You can put the front bar, the badge etc - but there are subtle visual differences that would still set the car apart from a gtr. however, you can put some good kits to make the car look awesome.

I would recommend SSV in oakleigh - they have a good range of cars. Saff cossie got his evo from there, and their cars are usually very good nick. You can check the stock via drive.com.au - just search via dealers and look for "southern special vehicles" in oakleigh. Speak to mark there, he brings the car in from japan himself. I would also recommend the place I got my car from - but they only import it as per customers request now i think (if you still wanna know, drop me a pm).

Also - keep in mind that if you get a stock skyline, there is a big - HUGE! - chance that you will want to modify it, take it to tracks/deca etc etc. So work out your finances carefully.

essentially to get that look off a GTST you will need to spend a few K more on a fibreglass bonnet (cheapest) new 400R front bar and sides...I think they are 400R sides, cant remember. This doesn't include whats going on on the back...spolier, rear bar and pods.

I guess the parts would cost you around 2k (roughly) then fitting and sprey...maybe another 1.5k...

Then u need some wheels...dunno 2k? plus rubber 1k

Lowered springs..not to much, but u need them fitted...maybe 700 all up..

So I guess ur point is u wanna buy this done already...cost to get a stockie looking like that u will need at least 7k (on a gernal guess) not including any engine mods..

    • Bit of a pity we don't have good images of the back/front of the PCB ~ that said, I found a YT vid of a teardown to replace dicky clock switches, and got enough of a glimpse to realize this PCB is the front-end to a connected to what I'll call PCBA, and as such this is all digital on this PCB..ergo, battery voltage probably doesn't make an appearance here ; that is, I'd expect them to do something on PCBA wrt power conditioning for the adjustment/display/switch PCB.... ....given what's transpired..ie; some permutation of 12vdc on a 5vdc with or without correct polarity...would explain why the zener said "no" and exploded. The transistor Q5 (M33) is likely to be a digital switching transistor...that is, package has builtin bias resistors to ensure it saturates as soon as base threshold voltage is reached (minimal rise/fall time)....and wrt the question 'what else could've fried?' ....well, I know there's an MCU on this board (display, I/O at a guess), and you hope they isolated it from this scenario...I got my crayons out, it looks a bit like this...   ...not a lot to see, or rather, everything you'd like to see disappears down a via to the other side...base drive for the transistor comes from somewhere else, what this transistor is switching is somewhere else...but the zener circuit is exclusive to all this ~ it's providing a set voltage (current limited by the 1K3 resistor R19)...and disappears somewhere else down the via I marked V out ; if the errant voltage 'jumped' the diode in the millisecond before it exploded, whatever that V out via feeds may have seen a spike... ....I'll just imagine that Q5 was switched off at the time, thus no damage should've been done....but whatever that zener feeds has to be checked... HTH
    • I think Fitmit had some, have a look on there (theyre Australian as well)
    • Hah, fair enough! But if you learn with this one you can drive any other OEM manual. No modern luxury features like auto rev-matching or hillstart assist to give you a false sense of confidence. And a heavy car with not that much torque so it stalls easily.
    • Actually, I'd say all three are the automatic option. Just the different trim levels. The manual would be RSFS, no?
