I have used a lot of shops(having had never ending problems) for my car.

I used Hitman for tunning my frist rebuild was a good tune, made good power but maybe need to be a little less aggesive. A bad batch of (100% my fualt or fuel station) and i melted 3 forged pistons. The shop i got the rebuld and work done at 16k worth of work pretty much said not our fualt come back when you want to rebuild again. That was just by doing a comp test they wouldnt even pull the motor down. Well i will not mention the name of that shop as they are not worth it (they have nothing to do with Hitman).

I then went to DART Automotive they rebuilt my motor in 6 weeks (frist took 6months) this by far the best alround shop i have been to they treat me well always keen to help me out. They have also tuned my car and have done a Great Job (not that HITMAN couldnt have done it but i like the all in the one shop thing).

Anyway DART Automotive is my pick for power FC tuning.

Cheers Brad

My first dyno run was recordedat 194.2@wheels@13psi.

For some reason i cant post the sheet??

But he told me its more like 190 as he had to knock a few degrees out of the timing as it was pinging.

Took it for a spirited drive last night, and could feel power and torque everywhere, but unfortunatley it is still pinging sometimes.Recorded knock levels of 42,54 and 99!!!! So im gunna change the plugs once again to see if if helps. Now i can really start to feel the limitations of the standard turbo.Runs out of puff at 6500rpm. torque drops off quite a bit in the top half of the rev range as you can see by my dyno sheet lol???

Now is the hard part turbo choice.

I've had a Hitman tune and found it to be great for all the reasons alredy stated in this thread ($500)

I wish everyone would post prices but anyway....

Can someone tell me what makes CRD so much better than everyone else? and what is their price?

I reckon for doind a skyline with standard turbo and a few mods to hit around 200rwkws, i think, for a tuner, it would be a piece of piss and woudln't need all day...but thats just my opinion :P

interesting read. ill be getting a tune somwhere in the next month. thought id give my personal opinion on shops:

im thinking of going to bel garage.. heaps good guys down there & always got time to have a chat. had some work done there in my old car.

ive also had the worst experience at UAS as well. went there for them to specifically fix a fuel pump install which i was booked in for at 9am. at which i got attended to at 2pm. and then they also decided to go and change my spark plugs to iridiums, give me a compression test and charge me $27 for a 'test drive' without telling me. Johns a nice guy and i have nothing against him, but wtf are they smoking when they make the bill & do random work. the bill was about $600 at the end of it ( i had the apprentice doing the work as well to make it worse).

I've also been down and seen Mark @ Hills Motorsport (bought some parts off him). great guy & good service. i also saw mixed opinions about their shop on this forum at the time so never knew what their mechanical work was like.

ive talked to unigroup over the phone and email. Yavuz is pretty keen to help.

hitman tuned my r33, treats you like a friend when your at his shop and does great work on tunning :santa:

oh and just incase.. im not attacking forum members in this thread lol

Normally I would not comment, but I have to backup UAS on this one.

I happened to be there when you bought your old GTS-T in on a tow truck and I personally saw the job you did trying to fit the fuel pump yourself. Given the state of your fuel pump and the mountain of solder you had poured all over it, im entirely not surprised that they wanted to go over the car to make sure it hadn't leaned out and caused engine damage.

blitz: thats fair enough, im happy they fixed the problem,

sorry i probably wasnt clear at what i was trying to say late last night lol.. i was angry at the fact that they didnt inform me of what they were doing. i mean i was sitting outside waiting the least they couldve done is come over and told me what was happening, instead of jus slapping the bill at the end with no explanation. they literally did not say 1 word to me the whole time the work was being done. If i knew that bill was coming then sure no wories, we all know cars arnt the cheapest hobby.

i personally would not go back based on that experience of customer service. but like all workshops there is mixed opinions, some get the good and some get the bad. it is unfortunate that i had that experience at UAS cause i've heard lots of great things about them (i still do upto now).

i have just been to UAS to get my car serviced and the tune tweaked. personally i was very happy with what they did...a bit on the expensive side...but not to expensive. i guess you get what you pay for...

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
