Hi all

Thought I would start this as the g/f and I are trying to decide on what to do this year.

We have both agreed the UK is not on the cards as we have done it every year for the last 6 years and are sick of the travel plus my parents are coming this way in March anyway.

California is top of the "to do" list but realistically with the Evo, Dutton, Apartment purchase and other expenses it would be foolish to spend towards 10K on a couple of weeks there inc flights.

Evan has mentioned Vanuatu in July which sounds tempting and Joel has spoken about QLD in June.

Am quite keen to go overseas but without the hullaballoo of long haul, just for this year.

So, what do people have planned and I don't mean dream trips but serious trips for this year!

My parents will be going to Europe next month to travel around for 6 months so I might go visit them over there in July/August time....ah the benifits of working for QANTAS

How about somewhere in asia? Hong Kong and Singapore are both good places to visit, I been pretty much everywhere else there too and those places are the best  Bangkok isn't too bad as far as cool stuff goes but not the nicest place to visit, although some of the holiday destination in thailand are supposed to be pretty good.

i am off to thailand in march for a few weeks then in late april flying to US to do a drive across the country with a long stay in vegas...

the us trip though may be jeapordised if the career change i am looking into eventuates...the plane tickets i got for free so cancelling is no probs..

Omurru - Europe is nice all year. Have done Singapore so many times, I can't remember now. Ace place but would only go there for a holiday as a stop over or frequent flyers. Done Thailand too and don't like it. Spent a few days there on free flights.

Sarahb - Shame but worth it in the long run, plus plenty of SAU activity!

Jetdat - Feel free to reallocate to us if you want

if u want to goto Thailand go to one of the outer islands would be a place to go, went to koh samui, was good. just relaxed ate and got fat ;-) good beaches and just lazying is my style of holiday and a Saturday in bangkok is good for shopping no more. we went to europe and pakistan in nov/dec, and with my wife off work in may i dont think i will have any money to go anywhere or do anything in 07/08.

Jetdat - 3 First Class! I am sure I could fill them!

Ziad, not fussed about Thailand. Doesnt really do it for me. I am glad I have been there but have no plans to go back.

Ash - Anywhere specific? That is one option for us too.

180mph - Africa would be nice but maybe something later in life for me I think to fully appreciate it. :)

A mate and I have tentative plans to travel all over Europe towards the end of the year....

He was lucky enough to get a student flight gift registry set up for his 21st, and ended up scoring about $1300 worth, so that'll cover most of his airfare....I'll have to save it the old fashioned way.

Nothing has been booked or planned properly yet, but the plan would be to head to london, catch up with a friend of ours that will be there. We'd want to see at least one game of football while we were there.

Then we'd move on to (in no particular order) Italy, France, Germany and the Greek Isles where we'd catch up with some mates that would be there as well

No idea Alan, a friend of a friend is living over there so im going to just go with the flow and see what i can in the week or so i'll be over there.

Not sure what area ill be in, or what ill be doing as yet

I was looking to go to Japan after i visit the folks in Thailand at easter this year. I'm trying to organise some guys to go..

Dezz - Just make sure you sit in the right end for the team you support over there!

Chris - Japan looks very grey, weather not too good there? :)

dunno...not going for the weather mate.

Canada is also on my cards...dad remarried a canadian chick recently who has a house in Vancoover who has been trubg to get me to go for ages...pitty I cant ski !

I have seen some picks...like NZ in many ways except no sheep :)

heheh yeah we're well aware of the risks :verymad:

I'm an Arsenal fan, even though I don't follow it as much as I used to anymore...but we'd go to any game regardless of who was playing just to go to a game there...

Funny you mention that though, we went to watch the Victory on friday night, and my mate was telling me as we were walking out that his mates went to a game in the UK.....can't remember the teams but it was Arsenal V someone, Arsenal won 4-2.....anyway, they weren't there supporting 1 team or the other, but they had red on....as they were leaving, some cops asked them if they were from around here....they said no we're from Australia etc, so the officers said 'you better stand with us for a while, because if you try and leave now, you'll be leaving in an ambulance' :)

I'd also love to go to Japan

    • As far as I can tell I have everything properly set in the Haltech software for engine size, injector data, all sensors seem to be reporting proper numbers.  If I change any injector details it doesnt run right.    Changing the base map is having the biggest change in response, im not sure how people are saying it doesnt really matter.  I'm guessing under normal conditions the ECU is able to self adjust and keep everything smooth.   Right now my best performance is happening by lowering the base map just enough to where the ECU us doing short term cut of about 45% to reach the target Lambda of 14.7.  That way when I start putting load on it still has high enough fuel map to not be so lean.  After 2500 rpm I raised the base map to what would be really rich at no load, but still helps with the lean spots on load.  I figure I don't have much reason to be above 2500rpm with no load.  When watching other videos it seems their target is reached much faster than mine.  Mine takes forever to adjust and reach the target. My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
    • In my head it does make sense to be a fuel problem since that is what I touched when cleaning the system. When I was testing with the fuel pressure gauge, the pressure was constantly 2.5 bar with the FPR vacuum removed. When stalling, the pressure was going up to 3.0 bar (which is how it should be on ignition).
    • ECUtalk pages don't mention they support the ABS computer (consult port has more than one CAN), so you might just need a different scan tool. But, I would expect ABS is a different light to the brake warning/handbrake light, do you see an ABS light come on for a few seconds when you turn the key from ACC to IGN? But since you said: I'd have a look at the ABS sensors in the rear hubs to make sure they are not damaged, disconnected etc.
