Hey guys, over the past few months I've been asking advice on should I get this stagea or another and showed my options. I'm happy to say I've purchased one, and I picked it up today ;)

2000 series 2 with oodles of extras such as leather interior, power seats, dual sunroofs, and a feature I didn't know stageas had.. tilting back seats.

I saw the vehicle over the internet and bought it blind just from pictures, and what the dealer had to say. Today it arrived here in Perth and I could not be happier with the result. The cars condition is absolutely flawless and runs beautifully. The only negative things I can say about it is that the deck doesn't open when I press the cd eject button.. (mechanism which slides the face up/down is clogged so I need to pull it out a little to give it a headstart) and also the car doesn't have an immobilizer (small things count ) other than that the car is absolutely beautiful.

And for those fussy about the price - the car was $23,500 + $1100 transport with TNT. The car was a fresh import from japan that I bought from a garage in Queensland. Also there are 55,000 km on the clock and I know you guys will say not real, but damn the car looks and feels brand new, so call me crazy but they just might be. Enough talking... PICS!

Disclaimer - buying blind is extremely risky and will not pay off for everyone so please avoid flaming me for doing so. Worked out for me

Enjoy :stupid:

Hmmm, I'm not to keen on the woodgrain on the dash and steering wheel, but EVERYTHING else looks awesome!

Congratulations!

Mate, that is sweet! I have always loved the BBS rims for the Stagea, and am still looking out for a set for mine.

I too bought my Stagea "blind" from a dealer in QLD. At least it is nice to know that you have some comeback to the dealer if you have any problems, but I have had very few with mine. Good value too!

I would recommend that you give the power steering a complete flush out (not just changing the fluid, as reqd for compliance). Also, keep an eye out on the oil cooler seal and the CV boots for the first couple of months. Because the cars tend to sit around a fair bit in Jp, the rubber seals can lose their flexibility. Have had no other issues though.

I notice that you have the Dayz front bar too. Nice.

Good on you mate - cracking good Stagea!!

:-)

Hey guys thankyou to everybody for the positive feedback :P

Also want to give a thankyou to the people who've pm'd me over the past few weeks/months telling me what's the go. It was greatly appreciated and without it I wouldn't have had such a great end result.

About the mods on the car.. all that I was given was a sheet with afew features but it wasn't fully comprehensive I'm sure. So I have no idea what exactly has been tweaked. All around it looks extremely clean so I would say not too much.

Also just for maintanence and well being of this stagea I was wondering if you guys could give me some pointers for example - The oil, what you use to clean it (in and out), just the best products available since I know alot of you guys have tried pretty much everything >_<

Furthermore I was wondering whether I needed a turbo timer for the health of the turbo.

I was just waiting for the 'welcome to your new addiction' phrase to pop up. I got one... YAY!

Thanks again for all the positive feedback guys, much appreciated

Wish I got a welcome to new addiciton thingy maggigy. so sad, too bad. :P

Nice, looks very nice. Ive got the woodgrain centre area, breaks up the monotony quite well. Ppls, in the flesh it looks good I can assure you. My steering wheel is plain-jane tho. >_<

Looks like its definately been lowered slightly, if you find you are having abnormal tyre wear better check the suspension thread in the sticky section, might need camber/castor kits from Whiteline thru Sydneykid. Would recommend some sway bars from Whiteline also.

For oil, Castrol Edge 10w-60 is supposedly the bees-knees, but any 10w-50 or even a 5w-60 oil would be fine. I use Penrite. Next change tho I'll try the Edge stuff.

Generally water and a sponge is good for cleaning cars lol  (I use the polglaze wash n wax suff) and Id suggest to let the car cool down over the last 3kms of driving (ie dont hit boost) in lieu of getting a turbo timer.

whats everyone got against woodgrain?

Mine has heaps of it everywhere and I love it to pieces.

Best bit about it, is when you get armour all on it (as I did acidentally) it polishes up like glass and looks a treat!

just be careful not to get any on the steering wheel.

THERES A SUBSECTION ON CAR STYLING AND CARE SOMEWHERE ON THE FORUM PLUS NUMEROUS THREADS ON THIS SECTION. USE THE SEARCH.

Furthermore I was wondering whether I needed a turbo timer for the health of the turbo.

WHAT 'TANGLES' SAYS, DONT BOTHER - SPEND THE MONEY A CRUISE CONTROL UNIT - THIS IS ONE OTHER FEATURE IT WONT HAVE THAT IS DISAPPOINTING. BUT SHEEZ ITS GOT SOME MANY GOOD FEATURES - WHO CARES.

I was just waiting for the 'welcome to your new addiction' phrase to pop up. I got one... YAY!

SORRY, IT DOESNT COUNT UNLESS IT COMES FROM SKA

Thanks again for all the positive feedback guys, much appreciated :P

DONT MENTION IT

MY S2 CAME WITH 55K ON THE CLOCK WHICH I KNOW WAS GENUINE SO YOU MIGHT BE OK

LOWERING? - STANDARD IS 380MM FROM THE WHEEL CENTRE TO BOTTOM OF THE GAURD ON ALL 4 WHEELS - IF IT HAS BEEN LOWERED YOU WILL NEED A CAMBER KIT OR YOUR TYRES WILL BE SHOT IN 15K

You should try it after a shoulder reconstruction. Trying to use a mouse lefthanded (not to mention wiping your

bum) is really a pain in the proverbial.lol

Been there, broke my right hand and ended up in a cast for 6 weeks, I feel your bum-wiping, left-handed-mousing, single-hand-typing pain

Hmmm..... loks real cool, good choice. You gotta another Prime Edition me thinks. Arrived the same day as mine. But I haven't taken any more photo's yet.

I can say though I am really chuffed with our car, the overall condition is fantasic. Cost about the same as yours. 77,000km I am SURE they are original. The inside of the motor is like new!.

We'll have to compare next weekend at the cruze.

Well done mate.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
