Hey all,

I love my skyline but I also love my games too, and I have an awesome deal on the new playstation 3, that has not even been released in australia yet. Anyways now down to prices;

If we can get 10 ppl buying the price will be 1150

If we can get 20 ppl buying the price will be 1000

They are all brand new with 60gb hdd.

Aiming to start this group buy asap, and finishing by the end of Feb.

So let me know, and I will start up a list.

first of all you must specify where you are getting this group buy from..

and secondly.. are you creating a group buy on Australian release ps3's or are they foreign ones?

Because i own a ps3 (they're awesome) HOWEVER mine is a jap one. These are region locked for blue ray discs which are available off the shelf in australia atm. As far as games go... we'll just have to find out when they start releasing them locally here in australia.

Lol if you're after a Jap one... you can get one for $400 less without the GB prices

no you can't

the RRP for 60gig ps3 is around 60,000yen which is just under $700 Aus

then add shipping cost

shipping 8.2kg via ems = 12,900yen

the price is $810

This doesnt inc any buyers fee you would need to pay (as no one will do it for free)

also if you check out ebay you will be lucky to find one under $1000

ALSO NOTE THAT: PS1 GAMES, PS2 GAMES, DVD MOVIES AND BLUERAY DVD ARE REGION LOCK! (so you can only play Jap games or REGION NTSC 2 DVD MOVIES AND BLUERAY) only the ps3 games are region free. At the moment i have RR7 And Resistance both jap and they are all in english BUT some games like AC4 are not completly in english. Also the console is mulit-language on startup you selected what language you want and also for the PS store you can also selected your region (once the ps3 has been rls in australia you will be able to select it as a region)

Who said anything about buying a Japanese version from JAPAN? Think outside the box mate, they don't release a version for every single country where it is sold and I can tell you there is one place where they are cheaper than all...

PS: they're not fake or dodgy, just the way they are... CHEAPER!

ok fair call, didnt think outside the box hehe

FYI the place I'm talking about is in Hong Kong... I don't know why, nor does anyone else but the PS3 is the cheapest there... even confirmed on Wikipedia

My family just came back and they were able to confirm my prices as well...

Just found out that we will be selling PS3 at $998 from big w when they are releasted. May be cheaper if its advertised anywhere else cheaper as they will price match.

big w?? yeh im sure everywhere they are released in oz, they will be around the $1000 mark, obviously these prices are for hardcore people who want one now... i heard games can simply be downloaded of the net? does anyone know about this... with 60GB im sure u must be able too somewhere?

just remember that there will be no local warranty if u get one from OS. and for a 1k machine.... I think youd want one.

as far as I know u cannot download games from the net....ie there is no chip or firmware yet.

on the otherhand theres a chip coming out for wii very soon

just to help you out and save you all some money cause I am a nice guy, I can beat your 10 for $1150 price. I can happily sell you 10 for your group buy for $950 each. or if you really think you want 20 make it $890 each. could probably do it even better than that if I carefully do the sums.

I have to be honest though, considering the aus release is only a month away and priced at $1K I have NFI how you are going to charge more for a japanese version which will be arriving at the same time they are released in aus? considering a japanese PS3 costs ~$650 in japan I don't think this is going to work. I personally bought a PS3 at the launch in japan last november and played it for a few months then sold it for $1800 but those days are over my friend. so I would suggest if you want one for youself send me a pm and I'll get one for you cheaply, but if you are doing this to make a profit I'd suggest taking this grand idea elsewhere. I'd also suggest that if you are trying to save money paying $1150 for a japanese PS3 when the aus release is weeks away is nuts. and remind you that aus DVDs and BDs and Aus PS2 and PS1 games WILL NOT play on your PS3. My feeling is that you are just trying to turn a quick buck but haven't really thought this through...

Just get an XBOX 360

Considering that performance reviews between the two systems have indicated that The Xbox 360 CPU architecture has three times the general purpose processing power of the Cell. The Xbox 360 GPU design is more flexible and it has more processing power than the PS3 GPU. And the memory system bandwidth in Xbox 360 exceeds the PS3's by five times. I dont know why anyone would want to pay MORE money for a less powerful system. Aslong as the game makers continue to push out good titles on the both systems i dont think i could justify spending the extra money on a ps3 when the superior system other then not having blueray is cheaper.

^^ Its not about the horsepower. Its about the games. The PS2 has always outsold the XBOX even though it was technically inferior.

And I call BS on the XBOX 360 being much more powerful than the PS3. Fanboi.

have you read reviews or benchmarks on the hardware? or same games compared on the two platforms? Wouldnt hurt before you claim that its bullshit :sorcerer: IGN and Gamespot have a read and you will see that the xbox 360 is deffinately a more powerful machine.

like Busky2k had said. Its the games. There are some games that only release on PS console. That who people really after. you will never find Final fantasy or Grand Turismo on Xbox.

    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
