So i have finally decided to get a new oxygen sensor form Mr Nissan, but my problem is that its bloody impossible to remove as i can't get a spanner in there and get enough torque on the spanner to undo it!

i tried an ultratune which was open sat mornings that is nearby me, but they don't have the tool to do it :(

now i know there is a tool which is like a big socket that goes over the o2 sensor but has a hole in the side for the wire to go through.. i went to supercheap and repco but no luck. repco have one in toowoomba but that's not much help

this is what it looks like:

so does anyone have one?

or does anyone have another special device that could help me out?

a 6-pack of beer is in it for any kind soul that wants to help me out this weekend

preferrable near to the brisbane city

cheers,

Warren

PS if you can help me out, send me a PM with your mobile/home number so that i can contact you :woot:

would a ring spanner fit in there? undo the clip and put the wire through the ring spanner hole??? although the clip might be too big to fit through the ring spanner... give it a try anyway

i use a ring spanner with a piece chopped out of it

drive it around here :D

Get out the WD40 and crc, also ever tried a 12" shifter and a hammer to break rust. usually works for me, there easy to get off dun see the problem.

Mind you if you were to be travelling down as far as springwood way i would do it for free

I have always used an adjustable spanner for the 02 sensor and have always found them to be just over finger tight...

When you put the new one in just pinch it up just over finger tight again, they dont need to be done up to 100lbs with a torque wrench... :)

must say the O2 sensor was one SOB to get out, just ask warren, the thing was on so friggen tight it wasnt funny, let alone there wasnt much room at all to get to it, but all in all supercheap came in handy, and finally got it out with a 22mm long socket, Perfect fit all round, as long as you do not require your old 02 sensor, and in with the NEW one with 1/16 to 1/8th of a turn after hand tight, perfecto.

Cheers and glad to help

Adam

Splash of brake fluid and a decent open end spanner never let me down.

Has the change of O2 sensor made your car feel any better in closed loop mode Warren?

I noticed it struggled to climb revs slowly when just touching the throttle but when you just started to back off the revs would jump then fall. Usually an indication of O2 sensor malfunction.

thansk again adam, hope those beers go down nicely >_<

daniel: haven't been able to notice much difference yet as i have only driven it home and nowhere else. but, it hasnt missed a beat yet

i will report back of the differences in a few days.. and with some fuel economy changes (if any)

oh, and i have had a couple of PM's about the part number for the geniune nissan item, and its: 22690-73L11

    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
