Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone has installed one of the Apexi AX53B70-p25 turbos on an R33 GTS-T.

I figure my turbo will die one day so I'd try and get a bit of info on replacements. There's a fair bit of info on the HKS and hi-flowed items, just thought I'd try and get a bit of info on alternatives to these.

Thanks

if you dont want more than ~250 kw then do like sexy-spook said and highflow your existing turbo. Will allow ~18-20 psi comfortably if im not mistaken which (with upgraded injectors and the other normal mods) will see you up towards 250 rwkw. Didnt someone hit 280 using a highflowed stock turbo ?

:(

http://www.jdmimports.com.au/index.php?mai...products_id=385

$2400, plus having the Apexi stamped onto the housing

And:

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...st&id=54411

At 14psi that was.

Indeed its a great result without a doubt, but nothing that a hi-flow cant do for less money.

Care to prove your point now?

Took me all of 2mins to do mine.

well what can i say except this....

http://www.nengun.com/apexi/ax53b70-turbo-kit *have a look at the price*

http://www.greenline.jp/catalogue/bblist.php?brand=APEXERA

--- 182,952yen = $1960.52aus

http://www.boostcruising.com/forums/index....howtopic=113321

and thats on 1bar--- 14.7 psi ---- 242.5rwkw

ive actually seen more power but hey no one will believe me without proof..

so this is what i got for now...

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...=55845&st=0

most people are getting 250rwkw to 280rwkw with the gcg hi-flow and thats using more

than 1bar of boost and cams of course.....

gcg hi-flow 450hp $2200 (and that trade in isnt it...?) *not sure about that* rebuilt hi-flow thingo*

apexi 420hp $2000 (bolt -on )

hey bang for buck u decide sounds like similar price but guaranteed that the apexi

will spank some butt!

cheers!

and this is all i wrote

****so im assuming u two know the differences...? or are u just sayin that ...

or u dont know ....?*****

and i didnt say i was proving anything so i dont know what horse shit your talking about as usual maybe u should read the post again..... your ahead of yourself as usual R31Nismoid....

why do i bother with you ...how did you ever become moderator...u must have sore knees by now..

if u say something then back it up thats all but hey u know all as usual....and everyone is a mind reader in your world...lol

and that took less than 2mins....

hahaahaha

cheers

from boost cruising:

'Car has got GReddy plenum, Apexi Cams, Apexi Pod, Apexi Power FC, Apexi Front Mount, Customer Piping, Apexi AX53B70 Turbine, GAB Suspension, Sparco Alloys. Tuned by Mercury motorsports, put down 242.5 RWKW on 1.0bar. Enjoy.'

So with 'Apexi Cams' @1bar of boost = 242.5rwkw, also 13.3 qtr mile time.

post-9504-1170816310.gif

Boost doesn't seem to hold very well up top

drop in boost from 104kph to 140kph maybe boost controller?

also keep in mind this 242.2rwkw was done in 3rd gear NOT 4th, so i believe it would be a little lower then this power figure.

my 2cent.

A GCG hi-flow is a far cry from $2200.

And you'll also find if you take the time to go have a look that the results people are getting in GCG and similar hi-flows is pretty much the same as a the apexi.

I suggest you do some more reasearch.

1) its cheaper than any Apexi item

2) and its made here, so support here if for some reason its not right.

3) its looks factory, the apexi does not

Is this the 3rd time i've repeated myself?

here is the difference,

apexi turbos are well made brand new and make more power.

high flows are over 10 year old turbos rebuilt to non factory specs.

WANT PROOF, on a rb20

GCG Highflow - 15psi at 5000rpm and on 20psi made 300rwhp

Apexi AX53B70 - 15psi at 3700rpm and on 16.6psi made 306rwhp

NOT EVEN CLOSE

I must be missing something here. I don't see a single dyno sheet.

Surely there must be one that you forgot to attach, i mean you said want proof after all.

I'm not bashing either way, but i see each has their pro's and cons. However if you're after mild power, i simply cannot see ANY reason to go anything other than a hi-flow.

1. Completely refurbished Turbo.

2. Continued use of a well-proven design.

3. Dozens of happy customers here on the forum, with Dyno sheets to prove results.

4. Stock appearance - particularly with our boys in blue becoming increasingly better at picking mods this is huge.

5. No change to existing gear, simply bolt it back on to where you pulled it off, no manifolds or mounts to be sourced.

Unless you want to sail over 280-300rwkw (assuming RB25/26), i simply cannot see a reason why you'd go for an Apexi, Garret or anything else.

Do you understand what occurs when a turbo is "hi-flowed" ?

Because what youve alluded to above is wrong. A hi-flow is brand new.

So what if it uses old housings, they dont affect performance unless they are damaged.

Good on your results with that, but we are talking about an RB25

I was speaking to Primordial a few weeks ago about his Apexi Turbo (model AX75F82 P25 turbo) he said it is similar in size to a 2535 but has a MASSIVE mid range punch. I would say that on a track, response and mid range power was going to be much more important than say 300KW @ 9000rpm.

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.

    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
