hi

I have a Nissan skyline r33 with a lot of work done on it. It should be able to make around 360rwkw but I have a problem. My AFM is a q45 witch maxed out at 280rwkw at 13psi. I have found out since then that you can get q45's with a bar cods ending in P60 or P61. I have the P60 but I have been told that the P61 is only about 10% better. Can any one help me in finding an AFM that will work for me with the power I will be making?

Your making out a Q45 @ 280rwkw/13psi... hmm...

That sounds a bit wrong dude.

Lots of people have made more than that.

Hell, i went 360rwkw/24psi on a Z32 and there was not an issue.

Is it damaged possibly? dirty even?

Nismoid, I'm the other R33 that's making it out at the same level. I've tried both types of Q45 now and have similar issues. Ideas?

Weird

Admittadly mine was using 104, but it was still 24psi, and thats what the AFM is looking for.

Hmm.. im honestly not too sure.

I'll moved this to Forced Induction.

Someone will know

From all my research and advise of others:

Z32 AFM supports approx up to 350rw/kw

Q45 AFM supports approx up to 450rw/kw

Sounds like your AFM is dying/needs a clean or something else is not right.

Regards,

Sarkis

from most of the stuff i've seen most people with Z32 max it out around 260rwkw and the q45 at around 300rwkw (only what Ive seen and read ) so it sounds like having power goals higher than that, you may need to switch to engine management that doesn't use an air flow meter.

Having an engine with that much power more than likely means that you.ve already thrown lots of money at it (if its going to last more than 2 weeks) so maybe you'll have to bite the bullet?

my 2 bob.

to those that said z32, its actually a downgrade

Im well aware of that, as others are too

I was just making reference that an AFM with a smaller resolution worked for me quite fine.

I agree with Sarkis on the power figures, as first hand ive hit the Z32 one smack on!

I made 300rwkw at 23psi with my Q45 with my old RB25

My new engine ( RB25.30 , T04Z etc ) gets dynoed tomorrow and its also using Q45 - Ill let you know how it goes.

hay thanks heeps this will be good. that is the same turbo that i am running. best of luck with the dyno

the safc can help you run twin afms on a single afm ecu

but a single q45 shouldnt be maxing at 280rwkw

when you say its maxing what is the problem you are seeing?

how are you deterimining that it's maxing?

have you tried cleaning it ?

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
