Yep no problems paying that....after all I have to pay $150 for an unorganized (well compared to the SAU vic/WRX events anyway :O ) track session at Barbagallo!!

I'm Hoping this will be my first track session after getting back to vic

When are the supp regs etc avail bec?

As good as mine are of doing 1.43.

I'll be there and will be mainly hoping to drive the car home.

It's been nearly 2 years since I was last at PI so I'm pumped to go. Mind you it's been 18 months since I completed a track day so I'm not getting too excited about any times or anything. Infact if I can get your 1.51 I'll be happy Bris.

Scotsmans best there is still 1.51 I think. Maybe he'll be happy to bet with you!

The fact some of these other boys are doing 1.43's is just plain freaky.

But Bris - be warned in all seriousness that unless it's a PIARC day they are now super strict on the 75dB@30m thing. Aaron got pinged late last year and his car is super quiet.

Yours isn't. You might only get a couple of laps if you don't tone the exhaust down.

Infact everyone should be well aware of this before they fork out the $180. If you think your car is loud either bring something to make it quiet or be prepared to just tottle past the testing station (which is on the inside on the main straight down near turn 1.)

OOH. Good point. Might have to see about getting the gate plumbed back up.

As for the times. Yeh who knows. I just want a session with no yellow flags and no car problems. Something i havent been able to do at PI...though my car appears to be over its hissy fit it had when it first arrived in Vic.

So i want a sub 1:55. How much i can goi under it i dont know. But i still think that is Chris did a 1:51 in his GTR (in 2004 spec) then my car should be able to do it...the driver just needs some more practice. Hell a farking Mirage does 1:53s

The only track day i have finished as i have started is Sandown. >_< I know it sux but sooner or later you will come out the other side. I am running out of time and money, and patience. All i care about is the times because my engine will only hold on so much longer and when it goers bang i will be parkign it for a long time

I'll be at PI this Sunday for the PIARC day, chasing 1:47's...

Roy - If you get a 1:51 I'll buy you 2 kegs.... On a serious note, a lot of time can be made at turn 1, hayshed, and coming onto the front straight.

Hold it flat through those corners and you will be on the money!!!!

In saying that 1:53's is achievable, it just depends on whether your foot listens to your brain, if the brain says back off, DON'T!!!

Roy - If you get a 1:51 I'll buy you 2 kegs.... On a serious note, ...

LOL...im being serious  . So is that a bet?

And before ppl get upset with me...its all taking the piss. You have to have a goal, its great to hit it, no shame in trying and missing :geek:

LOL. It takes a bet for me to get my ass in gear and get the car ready. I wanted to do this weekend but DECA weeeknd has left me broke. Really looking forward to this. Will be my first track day since Sandown 2005.

I have to keep telling myself that:

Phillip Island:

- Mirage , 1:53s

- Commodore Ute , 1:52s.

- ME (PB) , 1:58s

At Sandown:

- Mirage does a 1:27

- Ute , 1:26

- Me (PB) , 1:25

At Winton:

- Mirage , 1:38

- Ute , 1:41

- Me (PB) , 1:41 (Dutton when i ran out of fuel on the warm up lap >_< )

So its up to me to get the job done. The car should be capable

Now your just taking the piss

So you are only doing the Sunday Jack? May come down to spectate if im not in Sydney

Yep, just Sunday..

Forecast is for 38 degrees.. >_<

Although the sea breeze might make it a little cooler...I hope...

    • Shouldn't need a "base map" for anything other than guidance to ignition tuning. You just need the engine capacity right, the injector size right, and something, almost anything, for a VE map. On an NA engine, fuelling is almost completely a function of load signal & rpm. It should run and drive with a completely flat fuel map. It will be too lean under load, but that's easily fixed. We used to tune all ECUs without any base map. There were no such things (until someone had tuned a near stock engine on one, and then they had a "base map".
    • What did you actually buy/how much did it cost? When I got mine in like.. 2017...? 2019? the aim was to run Torque for gauges via ODB2 and things like Track Addict/Laptimers/Dashcam/Reversecam/Spotify etc. Mine never broke, but I wonder if you've got the same needs (it sounds like it). Cause I liked the idea of being able to do anything with it. That said, yours also cost 3x the cost of what I spent so... food for thought.
    • For me there is a massive difference in manufacturer or big brand crippled android (Sony, Kenwood etc) vs the sort of thing I've installed here, which is basically just a tablet in DIN form factor with open Android, and the other model of course is mirroring - Android Auto/Carplay. I hate the locked down manufacturer and AA options where they decide what apps I'm allowed to install, including the Launcher but also importantly things like Ecutek (for this car) or Real Dash (Stagea) are not supported. Plus those crippled versions tend to be slower due to both overheads and lower spec hardware. On the other hand, when this breaks I'll likely be in trouble for support....but how is that different to owning an Infiniti anyway
    • Yeah, Duncan is helping sell me back to Android devices. I've hated the whole Android head units due to their speed issues. Even in my old Hyundai Kona (2022 model), it behind the scenes was Android, and slow and shitty to start up. Once running wasn't bad, but still a good 15 to 30 seconds.
    • My roof rails are off atm on the E39 until the rust is fixed. I did find another little bit of surface rust under the rails when I took them off. As @soviet_merlin said I'd just leave them alone unless you're planning on ensuring they're properly sealed. I was on the fence about leaving them off as the delete is still a thing in BMW E39's but I feel like the car is missing something (er, it is, der) with them off and I'm looking forward to putting them back on.
