C'mon Troy, you can do it!

Deano in the S14 has done a 1:51 from memory, and you lap Sandown not too far off of his times as far as I'm aware, so it's possible. It'll just come down to you!

Good luck on Sunday Jack ;)

Dane...i need to pull my finger out or give you my car. You are going quicker then me at Sandown in your 180SX....and i cant blame lack of power. Next time you are at Sams get him to show my dyno overlayed on yours. RB20 POWAH !

haha I don't think I'm gonna be able to help man, I'm only lapping slightly faster than you at Sandown :P

I also think 23's, at least, would have been achieved in the 180 in it's current spec with a few more days there. One more session and I'd have had a 24, I'm a bit dirty about that...

I've never driven at PI, so it'll be baby steps for me

So you've had your car on the dyno at Sam's?? How did it go? I'll get him to overlay them, would be really interested to see the different power delivery and response/torque. I'll be there next week.

If you have never been to PI you just HAVE to go....easily the best track around. I bought Andrew (Ferni) a day of BMW driver training there for his birthday with their fleet of M3's. Its an absolute hoot. Flying down the main straight looking at the ocean coming up at you rather quickly is a sight to behold

Funny thing is i've never noticed the ocean in the GTR, but in the M3 it was so calm, like i was sight seeing

I'm a bit dirty on this Noise restriction crap. Why is it that PIARC get full noise days but WRX/other clubs don't?

I still can't belive Aarons car was over the dB limit.... i recon they just said he was since he was going to fast. Either that or it was the sonic boom that followed him.

I think PI have council permits for 20 days a year of full noise.

Things like the V8 Supercars and the Superbikes etc take precident over a club day. So therefore the only club days to get the permit are the ones run by the track themselves.

So if you have a loud car and want to drive at PI you have to go to their days.

I'm dying to go! Even spectating there is a great experience.

I missed last year with as my car wasn't ready, and I've just put my engine in for it's rebuild so it's ready for PI :( Will need to get the gate plumbed in for it though...

Finger crossed...

Troy: Ohhhh, so close! I'll take a look and compare our curves. Have you seen mine? Mine spools very similarly to a mates car with a TD06 equipped SR.

Thats because the M3 is such a sorted piece of kit you have time to look at other things rather than managing to keep the GTR in a straight line :P

You are going quicker then me at Winton and Sandown. One look at the curves tells me im a hack and you have skill. From memory my car had comfortably more power everywhere...comfortably. I felt like a proud Dad, then hung my head like a school kid as the reality is your still cpmfortably quicker

You and me both ferni.....I don't want this to be my first track day back in Vic only to be sent home early

I understand why we are pinged by the EPA on the road but I fail to see why we are pinged on the track as well (and yes I do know the reasons behind it!)

Now I really want to see the curves... my poor SR... :D

Hopefully the manifold leak fixed will right this a little bit... and maybe the extra 200cc capacity :)

You'll have to take me for a spin sometime Troy, I'd love to see what your car is like compared to mine.

not that my cars that loud...but if I get done for being too loud...can i just sacrifice some power an put my silencer in an off I go again?

Yep you get 1 warning to fix the problem. So you do have a chance if you do get pinged the first time.

    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
    • See if you can thermal epoxy a heatsink or two onto it?
    • The other problem was one of those "oh shit we are going to die moments". Basically the high spec Q50s have a full electric steering rack, and the povo ones had a regular hydraulic rack with an electric pump.  So couple of laps into session 5 as I came into turn 2 (big run off now, happily), the dash turned into a christmas tree and the steering became super heavy and I went well off. I assumed it was a tyre failure so limped to the pits, but everything was OK. But....the master warning light was still on so I checked the DTCs and saw – C13E6 “Heat Protection”. Yes, that bloody steering rack computer sitting where the oil cooler should be has its own sensors and error logic, and decided I was using the steering wheel too much. I really appreciated the helpful information in the manual (my bold) POSSIBLE CAUSE • Continuing the overloading steering (Sports driving in the circuit etc,) “DATA MONITOR” >> “C/M TEMPERATURE”. The rise of steering force motor internal temperature caused the protection function to operate. This is not a system malfunction. INSPECTION END So, basically the electric motor in the steering rack got to 150c, and it decided to shut down without warning for my safety. Didn't feel safe. Short term I'll see if I can duct some air to that motor (the engine bay is sealed pretty tight). Long term, depending on how often this happens, I'll look into swapping the povo spec electric/hydraulic rack in. While the rack should be fine the power supply to the pump will be a pain and might be best to deal with it when I add a PDM.
    • And finally, 2 problems I really need to sort.  Firstly as Matt said the auto trans is not happy as it gets hot - I couldn't log the temps but the gauge showed 90o. On the first day I took it out back in Feb, because the coolant was getting hot I never got to any auto trans issues; but on this day by late session 3 and then really clearly in 4 and 5 as it got hotter it just would not shift up. You can hear the issue really clearly at 12:55 and 16:20 on the vid. So the good news is, literally this week Ecutek finally released tuning for the jatco 7 speed. I'll have a chat to Racebox and see what they can do electrically to keep it cooler and to get the gears, if anything. That will likely take some R&D and can only really happen on track as it never gets even warm with road use. I've also picked up some eye wateringly expensive Redline D6 ATF to try, it had the highest viscosity I could find at 100o so we will see if that helps (just waiting for some oil pan gaskets so I can change it properly). If neither of those work I need to remove the coolant/trans interwarmer and the radiator cooler and go to an external cooler....somewhere.....(goodbye washer reservoir?), and if that fails give up on this mad idea and wait for Nissan to release the manual 400R
